Tatty but clean. Central and convenient. Staff friendly but insufficiently trained and English is very basic. Get what you pay for. Bathroom clean. Breakfast very basic. Bar was a real shocker. So-called "coffee shop" (Cappucino Point) non-existent.

We were booked to stay at Casamara in Kandy for two nights but only managed one. The hotel is very central but in our opinion was way below average. The young boy who checked us in was very polite but inexperienced and we found the other member of staff on reception to be unhelpful in fact quite ignorant and dismissive. The hotel rooms we booked were supposedly deluxe but as they were at the back of the hotel and overlooked dismal buildings and rubbish strewn roves so much, we didn’t even draw the curtains. The bathroom was small and beds looked very uninviting. I wouldn’t have wanted to have booked the standard room. We were told to try the roof top bar but after we walked up five flights of stairs, it wasn’t open despite the timings on display. We waited and someone did come but by which time we were fed up. We checked out the next morning into a guest house which was half the price and double the standard.

Rooms a little better than foyer might suggest, which makes a change.
Internet only available in lobby / reception.
Reception staff really helpful, helped me to find a computer repair shop one day and walked me to a couple of restaurants another day.
If you want to be very centrally located it's either here or Queens and I thought the rooms and staff were better at this place.

The hotel is right in the heart of town within walking distance to the lake, tooth relic temple, hindu temple and all the food outlets are nearby. The rooms are pretty good, comfortable bed, spacious, good water pressure, hot water.. in short its a comfortable hotel.. I would recommend this hotel to travellers. Breakfast is bad... I suggest eat out...There are so many food outlets nearby.

I took the opportunity to walk around the lake, did 2 rounds early morning..its about 5 kms..took me an hour.. its very calm and serene...but u must walk before 7 am.
There lots of local restaurants and stalls, I would recommend the bakeries are pretty good, Kandy Muslim Hotel serves good prata and local biryani. There is another stall across from Kandy Muslim Hotel called Razeek Food Place.. would recommend the food there too.
