The hotel and pool have great views of Candy. It does seem to attract a lot of tour groups and beware of getting to breakfast after a big group of European tourists have descended. The staff were very slow at replenishing the food.
Rooms were spacious with nice balconies and good bathrooms. Lots of monkeys about, they come into the room and grab food if you leave the balcony windows open...

From our first step into this hotel we were make to feel like honoured guests. A welcome drink and hot flanels to clean ourselves we were then escorted to our rooms. Huge rooms stylishly decorated and a strong warning about keeping your balcony doors shut to keep the monkeys out. Good advise as the monkeys were quickly down to investigate the new guests! The bathroom was a bit tired but very clean. The buffet food for dinner and breakfast was lovely and enough variety to suite all tastes. Good attentive restaurant staff and the music from the live band was great and really made our night. Good laughs and jokes with all around such a happy visit. For being in the town and so close to the temple of the tooth, the pool was lovely and it felt rural and relaxing with the lovely woodland right next to the hotel and views of the lake. We were only there one night and wished we could have stayed longer. For what the charge this place is real value for money.

Am pretty surprised by some of the negative reviews about this hotel, we loved it!
Spent 2 nights here, it cost around USD$135 p night in at Xmas peak season, and would have to say they were the most comfortable nights of the trip.

The good: Large, spacious, modern, clean and comfortable rooms and bed (all of which was rare in SL). It has magnificent views over Kandy (ask for a lake view). There's a nice pool and the food was very good both at dinner and breakfast. The Xmas Eve Dinner was great as was all the food there, the outdoor/indoor restaurant ambience was good and we felt very well looked after by the great staff. We also went to the Ayurvedic Spa and had a massage, herbal steam bath and oil bath which was a great way to relax for 90 mins.

The bad: Other than the shower leaking onto the bathroom floor and having to lock your patio door too keep the monkeys out - not much!

Overall: A very comfortable hotel with a pleasant charm about it in a good central hill-side location for Kandy. Don't think you will go too far wrong here, really enjoyed it.

This hotel has very good location opposite lake. View from the room is very pleasant. Unfortunately management has failed to capitalize on this. Rooms decor is average, ac dosent works well. Things r very old fashioned in it. Room service is terrible - dont expect anything will be delivered to your room. Food quality is poor and there is almost nothing for d vegetarians. We had seen pork served to a vegetarian couple, staff wasn't sorry for that.
On top of that they were so reluctant to accept their mistake and even offered leftovers. This only shows what the staff thinks about their customers.
we were even told to keep all doors and windows closed from monkeys! I was afraid who else lives there.
i wouldn't suggest this hotel to anyone. Even other budgetly hotels are far better.
