nice gradual climb from the main road, a welcome entrance, small walk through neat corridoors opening up near the swimming pool and dining area, colourfully fresh large rooms with lots of sunshine from the attached balconies, clean crisp linen, great views, modern toilets, good food with great variety, very relaxing ambience, absolute value for money, great service, very helpful attendants, a no frill lobby, just the right place in kandy.

First thing you will notice when you reach the place is the winding road along the hill experience. You tend to get the feeling that your vehicle will fall off the cliff any moment! I think for me that experience was terrifying nevertheless exciting!!
Stay at the hotel was ordinary at best. Rooms were not that clean. Bathrooms were decent although hot water supply was an issue as it would in a moment gush out steaming hot water and surely enough I got burnt more than once!!!
Room service was ok. Overall an experience which failed to meet my expectations but not a dreaded nightmare either!

We had 4 nights at the Hill Top. While adequate, I expect you could find much better places to stay. Being high on a hill, it had views but was still noisy (overlooking railway station) and not really feasible to walk to nearby locations. Rooms adequate but very tired. Food in dining room mediocre. Staff were friendly but did not appear to be well trained.

I would suggest exploring hotels on southside of lake which would have views and probably somewhat quieter. They too would not be easily accessible but staff training and rooms likely to be better.

We loved this hotel. It was very comfortable. The room was clean, there was plenty of hot water in the shower. The staff was friendly. The pool was clean. The restaurant food was ok, not exceptional. The staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. The location is not in a place where you can walk downtown, but the tuk-tuks can get you there and back. Sitting in a lounge next to the pool with food and drink being served to you is about as good as it gets!
