considering where it is, right next to the lake. and what it is, a 200 year old wood and stone house with loads of character.
We didn't pre-book this place but most people seem to (huh?!) and we were offered a really good room when we turned up, for Rs2,000 with a new and stylish bathroom (the shared Broom rooms can be bad, i have read elsewhere). Didn't try the dining room downstairs but had an OK breakfast in a nice wooden room upstairs.
The room didn't have a view or balcony but that's ok as there was a shared terrace overlooking the lakeside and this was good for birdwatching at dusk when all the storks and crows compete for roosting space and fly around from tree-to-tree. Quite spectacular, if you like that kind of thing.
Staff not especially friendly but that's probably due to the fact that they've been working here for ages and seen it all. If i went back to Kandy I'd probbly stay here again.
