The Hotel is situated just across the lake in central Kandy. If you stay in the old wing the rooms are really big. The colonial decor has a charm of its own. Good value for money. Friendly staff and comfortable rooms. The food is reasonably good.The only problem was no wi-fi in the rooms, so if you use internet you will have to take your laptop to the lounge bar to get wi-fi.

Overall a decent place.

I just been there and the hotel is ok while the city is not; you can stay in other cities which much better

Hotel Suisse is well placed on the lake, a stones throw (or tuk-tuk ride) from the centre of Kandy. I had a nice stay here.
My room was spacious, with a high ceiling and a nice balcony area. The hotel itself is a pleasant building, the bar service was prompt, and the breakfasts good (thanks especially to the omelette chef).Wifi is available, allegedly in reception and the bar area, though I only succeeded in the bar, and this didn't seem to come as a surprise to staff.
The hotel has 4 floors, but the lift only goes to the third. My room was 416, which involved a lift to the third floor followed by a walk to the back of the hotel, a flight of stairs and along a corridor. Perhaps some would feel that the views from being higher up compensate for this, but I would suggest the third floor would be better.
There is an Ayurvedic area between the hotel and its (nice) swimming pool. This is cramped, a bit dingy and with privacy only maintained by a frequently moving curtain. The massage is not a relaxing experience.
Overall a good hotel, though the Queens hotel is in a better location, and looked good to me from the outside,

We stayed hear for 2 nights and 3 days about a week ago.
It was an lovely experience. The room was big and furnished with colonial stuff. Bathroom was clean.
The food was great. Reception and the staff was very friendly and polite.
We enjoyed our stay very much and would return soon
