Had a wonderful 2 nights stay at The Earls Regency at Kandy Sri Lanka in December 2011. Though the property is 4-5 kms away from Kandy City Centre, the location of the hotel was excellent. Situated amidst the hills, it offered excellent view of both the river flowing close by and the hills. Great food and good service.

First of all, this is not a 5 star hotel. The travel agencies recommend it highly but this is far from a 5 star and not worth booking at all.

Only the main building is swanky, but the majority of the rooms are available in the two new wings that are worse than a local inn. To top it, the rooms are even located so far away from the main building where the reception is. So be ready for a long walk to rooms every time you go in/out.

Even the view was pathetic from the "Honeymoon Suite" that was supposedly pre-booked for us in the new Knuckles wing.

Internet/Wi-Fi doesn't work in the rooms, nor do the TV/coffee machines. More importantly Staff were unapolegetic, and ignored all our complaints.

Also note we had made the bookings and informed them well in advance that it was our Honeymoon and we wanted good rooms with view etc. Initially they tried to pass this pathetic room to us as the "Special Honeymoon Suite", but then they blatantly lied that they had not been given any information by the travel agency about the Honeymoon. They even promised to give us a better suite the next day, but they gave us a smaller older room. By that time i had resigned and just hoped for better arrangements for the remainder of our trip.

This was the second hotel we stayed in at Srilanka and after staying in 6 different hotels in Srilanka, I think that this one is the best hotel in Srilanka outside Colombo. This hotel is certainly good either if you are staying for one night or for a week.
The first impression when we entered the Hotel Lobby was great. The lobby area is spacious, elegant and the atmosphere there is calm and peaceful. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The hotel design is also amazing which is to have the rooms in an adjacent building with a passage that had great views of Kandy city and lake. The rooms were good and clean but not very spacious. However, the balcony view is great and it gurantees privacy from adjacent rooms with the way they designed the barriers.
The food in this hotel was very good. It was the first time in 3 days that my wife really enjoyed her meal.
This is one of the hotels that I can recommend to anyone visiting the peaceful city of Kandy.

Itz realy very nice place for honeymoon couple..There was happend very small issue to us..we had to wait for one hour until arrange our room..But it wasnt a big one..Your service is brilliant..And i love ur foods sooo much...actually Earls Regency is fantastic place..
