“A delightful few days”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 March 2011

We stayed in this peaceful, beautiful, planters-type house and enjoyed every minute. The house is most comfortably appointed and the location is perfect, a short drive from Kandy, but in the middle of a lovely tea estate in the hills above the town. We were made extremely welcome by Martin and Rani who catered for our every need, and couldn't do enough to make our stay luxurious. We enjoyed some lovely walks around the tea estate, and some stunning drives in the surrounding hills. In all a most memorable time.

“An excellent Christmas experience”

I recently spent Christmas with my partner and parents at Jungle Tide, and it really was the perfect place for it. It is an incredibly peaceful place, set in rolling tea plantations and amidst a local village. It is a modern place built in a traditional style and finished to an excellent standard by the British owners. The caretakers, Martin and Rani, did everything they could for us: excellent home cooked Sri Lankan food (it was certainly a different Christmas dinner!), immaculately clean, laundry and even a Christmas walk around the local area. The only downside of Jungle Tide is its location - it is around 40 minutes from Kandy (this journey will soon be shortened due to the road from Kandy being improved), the last part being on very poor road. However, if you are looking for peace and quiet, away from the manic atmosphere of Kandy, then the location is ideal - and was for us. Driver's accommodation is included in the price, and you will need one here, but the owners can arrange one for you at a reasonable price.

“Eden called Jungle Tide”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2010

Its not walls that make a home but who dwell there in. Jungle Tide has warmth, a loving cozy feeling and two very eficient caretakers living in it. Located an hour's drive away from Kandy, this lovely bungalow is tucked away in what can only be called a paradise...undulating lush green tea gardens. Not a sound for miles it is the the place for those who like peace and long tracks for early morning trekking and walking. Sally and Jerry have done up the rooms very beautifully, and I am sure it is their selfless love and care in turn that make Martin and Rani the two house keepers delight visitors with great food and endearing hospitality. Lalith, teh driver Sally recommended is a must have aide in exploring teh Hill Country and getting to know small helpful tips. Thank you Sally and Jerry, for the lovely bungalow that you open to travelllers like I and my husband

“What a gem of a place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2010

Jungle Tide was such a find for us and easily the best place we stayed at during our visit to Sri Lanka. The resident house staff, Martin and Rani provided excellent breakfasts and evening meals.

The only downside is the approx 2KM of unmade road towards the end of the road from Kandy. This is due to be re-constructed and equipment was in place in November 2010. However, this would not stop us visiting again. Highly recommended

“Superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2010

Jungle Tide is the most fabulous home about 40 minutes outside Kandy. The house is on an unmade up road, which makes it quite time consuming to travel, but once you are there it cannot be faulted. The house itself is beautiful, extremely clean, well decorated and with very good ammenities. You can self cater, or the people who look after the house will cook Sri Lankan food, which is definitely worth trying. There are lovely walks around the house in the tea plantations and further afield in the hills. It is one of the best, if not the best place we have ever stayed in and will certainly return.
