Chris was very professional is booking us a room and also organised our taxi from Colombo airport. His house is perched on top of a hill overlooking the beautiful river. You can just sit on their balcony and gaze into the scenery throughout the day. You can see the river for about 15 miles away. The place is not your regular hotel so do not expect 5 star category accommodation but what u get is a decent room with clean sheets, towels and a clean bathroom. Chris and his wife are hospitable and serve you lovely food at extra cost. Asks Chris' driver to take you to place around town and he would do it and take you to the next location as well.

I decided to book at beebopbeedoobi just because i found the name intrigueing. I remembered it from somewhere.
Turned out to be the e-mail name of the person who built the place. A painter, originally from England, who is sometimes there.
The building is only half finished (which is typical of Sri Lanka) and so has a flat top. this is ok because it provides, possibly the best view you will ever see, but not from a commercial, tourist type setting.
The rest of the house is finished and is new, clean, relaxed and freindly.
Only two, large rooms, open to a good balcony. with fantastic views. They each have their own bathroom with hot shower and are quiet and private.
The location is good because it it close enough to the town but is remarkably peaceful. You pass through a 'real' village life going up the hill (unlike the mass of hotels around the lake and the rest of kandy) and so its enjoyable to stroll around. Otherwise, the location couldn't be better for exploring ;not only kandy, but the hill country, cultural triangle and . even the elephant orphanage.
Then there are places that the family only know; little temples and unspoilt places that the 'guides' haven't found. It is like a home from home and is run by a family, who seem more interested in youre happiness than money. If there is anything you need to know about Sri Lanka, how to get to a destination, or you just want to experience life, rather than being taken along, then this is the place. I have such fond memories. I decided to write this because, like all good things, the place isn over advertised, in fact , not much at all.
