This was our first stop on our 3 week tour of Sri Lanka and they certainly set the bar very high! We were welcomed with open arms and made to feel like family rather than paying guests. The setting was lovely with a gorgeous view and the room was spacious and a real bargain. Chris and his wife could not be more accommodating, offering us tea and biscuits, introducing us to Sri Lankan customs and helping us to plan our days. The food was brilliant - as a vegetarian I did not know what to expect but it was amongst the best Asian food I have ever tasted. As an animal lover, I enjoyed their friendly dogs and yes, whilst there was some barking at night, it was more the neighbouring animals that were bothersome. And animal noise is a common trait of Sri Lanka! I just used earplugs to ensure a good nights sleep. I could not recommend this place highly enough.

Stayed here 2 nights in July 2010 and was astonished by the calm and views. Had difficulty sleeping the first night with the neighbor's dogs barking until quite late, and was worried about how our second night would go, but it turned out to be perfectly calm and quiet and lovely. Spent many hours reading on the porch, watching the rain come in and out, and enjoyed dinner and breakfast very much. Would highly recommend, but might ask the owners about the dog situation.

We stayed just one night and paid around LNR 1 600 + a fee to the agent.

We could wax lyrical about the mind blowing view or say that the room was very comfortable or mention that our hosts were charming company. But we won’t, as all this pales into insignificance after the torrid first night we had to endure.

The owners are dog lovers and keep several which were allowed to bray, bark and yowl right outside our window/door incessantly all night long. It was truly intolerable and we barely slept a wink. We saw the owner the next morning and told him we’d be leaving early and the reason why.

He genuinely seemed surprised that the dogs had made any sounds for their bedroom faces a different direction and he hadn’t heard a thing. Pardon me? An atomic bomb would have been less intrusive.

Anyway, we left on agreeable terms and found alternative accommodation nearer town.

Plus Points
- very comfortable room
- super view
- good bathroom with separate shower and hot water
- spotlessly clean
- decent linen

Minus Points
- couldn’t sleep for dogs yowling throughout the night
- no air con or fan and it was extremely hot and humid
- no fridge (although the hosts did put a couple of bottles in theirs for us),
- no wi-fi
- total isolation – you will have difficulty getting back after dark
- BRAYING DOGS WILL KEEP YOU UP ALL NIGHT

Up on the hill, in the quiet and peace, 5 trained dogs and the owner welcomed.
Get up with the sun, listen to a faint "puja" chants and hummingbird (coming papaya tree in front of the room), then enjoy morning tea and tropical fruits.
Enjoy nice walk down to Kandy city (about 1.5km), you'll see wild monkeys and squirrels....

Yes, here is the place who wants to free from trifles.
I stayed 3 nights and if I had more holiday I'd have stayed longer....
