We stayed overnight at the Serene Garden Hotel in Kandy on the 13th January 2012 whilst on a 2 day tour with Suresh Tours which we booked whilst staying at the Mermaid Hotel and Club, Kalutara (Suresh is a fantastic local lad and tour guide with his own business. We fully recommend Suresh for any trip that you may wish to take in the area, his tour agenda's are fabulous, he knows all the reputable tour guides and uses them, and he knows everything about his Country and the local area, and he knows the best overnight stay hotels, and
the booking for this stay was completed by Suresh, and he did not let us down). The hotel is a very reasonable 3 star, the room was very clean with all facilities (other than tea/coffee making) and a very serviceable (hot at all times) shower. We were on the second floor, adjacent to the very nice swimming pool and lounge bed area. The balcony from the room had absolutely fantastic views across the city of Kandy. Included in our stay was evening Dinner, and breakfast, and both meals were excellent to say the least, dinner with a large self service traditional Sri Lankan hot buffet, and breakfast in a similar vein with everything available from European, English and traditional fare. The staff we found accomodating at all times, and nothing appeared too much trouble at all. The local monkey wildlife was a joy to watch with their antics, and peeping through the windows to see what was available! Many of the Kandy tourist attractions are nearby, do not miss the Temple - amazing culturally and historically - and the Cultural dancing, well worth watching, if only for the firewalkers! A very comfortable and straightforward hotel. Thanks for the memories Suresh.
