We reached Kandy on Dec 22nd 2011. Serene Garden was amazing and our room was on 5th floor. The view outside was fantastic. Hotel was amazing. Rooms were clean and everything was in place. We missed the cultural hotel in Kandy due to time constraint. The cultural show timing was 5:30PM whereas we reached Kandy around 6:30PM.
Food was good and the early morning view from our room was very pleasant.

I stayed for 3 nights while doing the tourist 'stuff' around kandy etc and used the SGH as my base.

The room was adequate and the staff were always on hand with helpful tips. the banquet each evening was quite good. i had booked this with my stay but otherwise it is 1,500 rupiah but definitely worth it if you are hungry as there is a good selection.

the tiled floors can make it a bit noisy at times (with the noise from rooms above) and, while the rooms are not spacious they are comfortable, given the amount of time you actually spend in the hotel room.

We stayed in Hotel Serene Garden in Kandy Srilanka, the hotel is quite good with quite good rooms and a restaurant, but we had bad experience with the bathrooms, there was no out let to water outside the shower enclosure, hence water spilt from the sink and water coming out of the shower enclosure was coming out from the bathroom. but otherwise it is just fine.

we just came back after 11 days in sri lanka.
this hotel is very good-clean- with a good price and good food. we had a beautiful room (that we had to close the balcony's door as monkys were there in the morning-)
although it is not close to kandy center - you have tuktuk texi available there all the time/
the food is great and KUMAR the dinning room mng was helping us a lot as we are we do not eat meat and he arranged us (every night) a fish on the grill extra with the great buffet they served.
as i had my B-Day they send us to the room a tasty chocolate cake and the stuff there were so kind and nice
highly recommended!!!!!!
