We stayed at this hotel while on tour, so can’t comment on the price/value. The hotel has very nice grounds and a very nice looking pool. The room we stayed in was pretty much OK, although it would not be considered so in the US or Europe. The walls were moldy and in need of painting but the room was large and the beds were fine. The TV only had 9 channels, none of them in English and some with poor reception. No tea pot in the room but there was complimentary bottled water. The bathroom just had a shower and the shower bracket was broken. Not too clean and it looked like there had been a leak under the sink (the faucet on the sink was loose). There was continuous hot water, but the pressure was weak. Poor lighting. We ate the dinner buffet the first night at the hotel. It’s mostly bland Western food so as not to offend the taste of the tourists that mostly stay at the hotel and it’s pricey. There was one good Lankan dish but no one in our party would eat it except me because it was “too spicy”. The a la carte menu isn’t much better, but you can get off somewhat cheaper. We had vegetable fried rice for lunch and it was bland but OK. The breakfast buffet was pretty good with a fair selection of things plus prepared omelets. There is no wi-fi but there is a computer in the office that you can use, reportedly for Rs. 10 per minute.
