“Dinner at Zeavola: would have to rate as 3*, if it weren't for the setting.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We ate at the TACADA restaurant only, so it's the one we rate only (not the hotel in general) - having been fed up with what Holiday Inn (where we were staying) had to offer in terms of dinner, we tried different options and one evening ending up at Zeavola's.

IN SHORT: the restaurant needs to pull it's socks up in order to match Zeavola's esteem and quality.

We went for a full course for ourselves and our 2 kids aged 5 and 7 yrs old, together with a bottle of wine and desserts @ THB 7000. The food was good, but not spectacular - still a long way to go in comparison to Poppies, their counterpart at Koh Samui. I asked my white snipper to be taken away, because it resembled a flipflop more, than a delicately done prime fish and took an australian steak instead, which was quite good. But just good. Fortunately, they behaved first class without making any fuss over it. The settings are spectacular, though. So, if it weren't for the beach, we would probably rate this place as an average 3*.

Zeavola Resort by far was the highlight of our 3 week holiday traveling through Thailand ,Spending 3 nights with them my only wish was we stayed longer .The staff were outstanding at customer service making us feel Special in there own way every day. the location on the northern tip of Phi Phi is Beautiful and it is only a short boat ride to all the wonders of Phi Phi. A very big thank you to staff members Nook, Pa, Man,Phi and top our Dive buddy for making our stay one to remember , The rooms are so peaceful and relaxing, the bed was a little hard however i loved the outdoor shower and the beanbags on the beach...We also had a 3 hour spa treatment which left us feeling like magic .... we will stay longer next time :)

Room Tip: Our room was number 45 right near the pool , very private and quiet

“Third time -still lovely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

We have been to zeavola 3 times so thought it was about time we added a review as we always read them ourselves. We have been in Nov 2007, March 2010. Jan 2012. We love the zeavola. The beach has pure white sand, the sea is really clear and turquoise and the hotel has a tropical Robinson Crusoe feel with thatched houses and tropical gardens. We have read a few negative reviews who say that the hotel is not up to it's 5 stars, nor is it as good as the Maldives so thought we'd set the record straight. I think people forget that there are different types of "luxury hotel" and the zeavola is luxury on Phi Phi but it's a natural tropical style luxury.

Location
If you want something like the Maldives then go to the Maldives. At zeavola you will see locals on the beach - why not it's their home? There are 3 other hotels on the long beach do its pretty quiet most of the time. We have been to tonsai bay which is horribly crowded and smelly, where zeavola is located is bliss. There are daytrips that arrive for lunch at the end of the beach but we found them entertaining rather than annoying and staff are good at keeping an eye on them. And the best part is that they all go back to phuket or krabi but you get to stay.
there are the odd bugs but that's part of staying in a tropical setting and as long as you have deet it's fine.We liked waking up to the sound of birds & seeing butterflies (& the odd cat!) the staff do spray the rooms twice a day for insects too.

Arrival
Best get hotel speedboat from Phuket it's quickest. The first time we got the ferry&longtail (slow!) but seaplane back which was amazing but the company went bust. Our third time we were going on to krabi so had to get the ferry there from tonsai which seemed very slow. If you are able to charter a speedboat for krabi do or go via Phuket and use the hotels speedboat shuttle.

Rooms
The garden villas are fairly large and have everything you need. I would say they are rustic luxury, they look tradotional but have aircon wifi dvd player etc. And are very clean. You get used to the outdoor bathroom but it can be annoying in the middle of the night, if you are not keen go for a Village Villa which is smaller but has indoor bathroom. At the turndown the gift is a nice touch. a proper coffee machine on the deck instead of instant is also good.
Facilities
The pool is nice but to be honest we preferred the beach and swimming in the sea. There are bean bags on the beach which are comfy but don't sit on them without a towel as they get hot in the sun. Which by the way really is relentless so bring extra lotion wven in shade. There are plenty of beanbags so no anxiety over getting there early in the morning. Zan zanouk has free snorkel equipment and kayaks to use. If you want to try snokelking but are nervous borrow a life jacket too and try it on the beach. Staff will direct you to the reef. We have done a few trips and the snorkelling is great we saw 3 small sharks on one. The best beach is on Bamboo island just opposite zeavola and much quieter than Maya bay. We also did the sunset boatride & wine/tapas at sunset on bamboo which was lovely. The sunset was much better than the sunsets from the holiday inn sunset bar.

Food
We have eaten in a few places on the beach( generally disappointing everyone raves about Jasmine but it wasn't that great) and food is best at zeavola. the prices are not too bad and the buffet specials (if you are greedy!) are good value. Breakfast is excellent and highly recommend the freshly baked Danish pastries. Good cappuccinos too.

Best bit? Walking along the beach at night seeing clear sky full of stars.

“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

My husband and I spent three nights here years ago and we are ruined. We compare every hotel and vacation to our time at Zeavola because we loved it so much. It truly felt like paradise

We took the speedboat from Phuket to get here. It was incredibly comfortable and quick.
It was our anniversary so we were upgraded to a Pool Villa with views of the ocean which was incredible.
The people who work here make everything even better - the service was great. When we left the resort two of the individuals who helped us most came out to the boat to see us off and gave us gifts.
The hotel has an outdoor rustic feel combined with luxury amenities. The food was incredible.

We will be back.

Only drawback: Mosquitoes - but the property is clearly doing everything they can to protect their guests from them by fumigating the property and prepping the rooms at night. Its a small price to pay.

Room Tip: Pool Villa - its like your own spa.

We loved it and would go back. Ask for the villas at the back. Loved the outdoor showers and beach bags. Paradise. Breakfast could be improved - trying to be too western and cater to everyone. What about a simple premised museli with banana, papaya and pineapple?
