We stayed in this hotel for a couple of nights after a dreadful experience at Sea Breeze Hotel. The reception here is much friendlier and the hotel is right in the centre of town (although I don't consider that to be a reason to stay here). For mid-range price, everything in this hotel is very good - except for the musty smelling rooms. Our room smelt like it had been locked up for years. Rooms are a good size but really need some TLC - fresh air, a coat of paint and fixing up of wiring for a start. The pool was really sunny and pleasant and we were lucky to have it to ourselves on both occasions that we used it and we didn't have any obvious prying eyes (although I think that the waiter who dropped the tray while looking down from the first floor landing may have momentarily lost his equilibrium when he saw my fabulous beach body...well, that's what I like to believe).
The two restaurants we dined in were very good. Breakfast buffet was satisfactory although staff were over-attentive so that I felt I was being watched by five smiling men as I plunged into my food. You need humour in India and because everyone in this place was so pleasant we were able to make lots of Monty Python and Fawlty Tower jokes rather than get stressed out.
A couple of nights here would be fine but if they redecorated their bedrooms and bathrooms, this would be a superb hotel for a reasonable price. It's one of those places where you wish you could just take over for a month to sort out all the rooms to make it a place that could be really superb..
