The Royal Grand Azure is a lovely hotel - I have returned after having two weeks with 2 friends. Cannot fault the food, except for the poor selection of cereals, the bedrooms which were always kept very clean and were very spacious, the area around the grounds some of which was quite stunning, the staff who were so friendly and helpful. Special thanks go to Saad, the Restaurant Manager who was so helpful to my friend, who is disabled, always found us a table in the restaurant which was convenient for the wheelchair - nothing was too much trouble for him. Also Bella and Kelly were very helpful - again nothing too much trouble, Karam - concierge and Haisam Ali, one of the waiters who was always friendly.
All the staff work extremely hard and very polite.
Now the downside - at the heated pool, music was played from 10 until 5 every day and it seemed to get louder as the day went on - no good if you want an afternoon rest! I would suggest if you want peace and quiet, get a room further away from the heated swimming pool, it is like a different world.
After a week we had approximately 300 visitors which caused disruption. The staff in the restaurant could not cope, they were running out of everything with such a large influx of people and looked extremely stressed. Children were allowed to run about at 12.30 pm, pulling furniture around, jumping on sunbeds, shouting and screaming. After a call to security from many people, this was rectified after a 20 minute wait.In the morning we noticed lots of flowers had been pulled out and trampled on - quite distressing to see the gardens ruined - the gardeners work so hard to make them look attractive. However, after four days the visitors went home and it was back to normality - everyone looking relieved.
The first night we went to the Lobby Bar where the animation team were performing - again far too loud, almost deafening. We had to abandon that idea so went into reception each night where there was a lady pianist who was excellent and had drinks there. Unfortunately, to get there we had to arrange for a club car (buggy) to pick us up because of the wheelchair, to go upstairs. Only 2 days in 14 the 2 lifts were working so this made it quite difficult for everyone involved.- I would stress the lifts are most most important to get fixed. One last point I would make, some daytime activities would be good, not just watersports, but schulen, shuffleboard, etc.
It was a lovely holiday but a few things need to be sorted out to make it even better.
