I can't remember why I chose this place, perhaps someone on this site said it was a quiet place and safe, price was good and I like small hotels. First, the location is away from everything. It is in the suburbs and not in walking distance to anything. The neighborhood is gated, but I can't imagine why as the homes are nothing special, some rather run down. This small hotel has the potential of being charming but there isn't much they can do with their location. The room we had was a nice size but there was something just a bit shabby about it. The bathroom was spacious with the best counter room and shelves ever but it lacked proper towels and those there were dingy. The king size bed slept very well with plenty of pillows and nice linens. The breakfast service and setting was quite nice. I believe our check in clerk was El Fonzo, and the next day we were greeted by Angel, both young men were eager to please and very helpful. They made gallant attempts with their English and in general just a delight.
While I said there was nothing to walk to, we did walk to a tourist attraction, the Parc Historical (will review else where) and we did find a nice restaurant for the cab to take us to. I am sorry, but we just kept saying that there was a little something not quite right about the place and the word "shabby" came to mind repeatedly. Perhaps the construction and finish work not just up to par.
