“One of the Best Places in Goma”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

If you are a visitor to Goma, its probably the best place to live in. Its very close (approximately 100 meters) from Grand Barrier (a Border between Rwanda and DRC). Its on the bank of Kivu Lake. A clean and developed place with wifi, Tenis Courts, swimming pool and Gymnasium. Sarena Hotel of Gissenyi is visible from its restaurant.
A good place to saty in.

“For Goma this is really good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

Stayed on business in May '11 for 4 nights. Travelled with Congolese partner so suspect sidestepped a number of potential problems. Setting beautiful on the waters edge. Pool area clean and had room on the waters edge, past tennis courts, very pleasant. Rooms large, clean and minimalistic. Bathrooms need some work. Food, particularly fish, quiet acceptable. Good fresh bread and fruit for breakfast. Don't be in a hurry, it will only stress you out. My Congolese partner said "Just smile" and it works wonders even when the tensions run a bit high. Lots of cold beers around the pool, UN and NGO teams aplenty. Remember to have cash to pay for your accommodation, credit card machines seldom work in this part of the world.

Room Tip: Rooms on the waters edge, past the tennis courts

“Good, but bring patience”

The hotel improved after a recent overhaul. It's certainly a challenge to open/run a hotel in the region. Therefore, hats off to the management. The location on the Lake Kivu shores is excellent, as the plastic belt is a bit further up on the lake. Wouldn't recommend swimming there, though. Be very careful once you leave the hotel gates. Security situation within Goma town is nothing for the Africa new-comer-tourist. As passenger or driver, keep car doors tightly locked at all times.
The pool is nice and clean, tennis court always available, they have a good coach who is ready for a match in case you are travelling alone. Restaurant and pool bar have something common in DRC- a notorious absence of change. So don't leave big notes. If you don't like the sight of a waiter, that's the place to be. Probably badly organized. The waiters have to run to the reception for every penny as the bar cash box is always left empty. I must add that once you get hold of a waiter, they are friendly and well-mannered. I know their salary, so please leave a tip.

“The best in Goma”

This is clearly a step up from the other hotels in Goma, with a pool, nice bar and restaurants, and packed full of NGO staff! It really is a western standard resort at a good price. Not too sure about the working girls who seem to appear at night, though!
