Great location in center of Vukovar and on banks of Danube. Hotel Lav is new, of course, since the war, and the residents are justifyable proud of its existance. Rooms larger than normal in Europe, good views of the river, delightful breakfast, in a town that is rebuilding from almost total destruction. Highly recommended,

Hotel Lav is a brand new 4 stars hotel located in Vukovar in Eastern Croatia. It is located perfectly, just a short walk from Vukovar’s centre and banks of Danube river with its nice promenade.
Hotel absolutely justifies its 4 stars. Rooms are modern and spacious, as well as other areas of the hotel. There is a nice cosy restaurant with a wonderful terrace perfect for enjoying your meal during nice weather. There is a great choice of local and international cuisine.
As I was there for business, maybe somebody will be interested in the fact that the hotel has great facilities for different conferences and seminars.
Vukovar itself is a very pretty town which unfortunately was heavily damaged during Croatian patriotic war. Many of buildings are already repaired but there are many that still await for the renovation. Still you can feel the charm this little town once had, and still has. But you can also feel all the sufferings its people went through.
Vukovar is becoming an important stop of many big tourist boats that are cruising the Danube. While I was there, there were several of them, mostly with American tourists.
Anyway, I would recommend staying in this hotel, weather for private or business purposes, and visiting Vukovar if you are in the area.

I have stayed at this hotel on many occasions and thought it worthy of comment.
Vukovar is an area, which was devastated during the war and is still in the process of repair and rebuild!

I have seen the town improve within the short space of a year, between 2005-2006.

The Lav hotel opened last year. It is a very modern building and looks quite out of place next to the concrete supermarket next to it which still shows signs of major damage.
All the rooms have similar decor. I have stayed in the cheapest rooms and on one occasion the penthouse suite.

They are all very modern and brightly decorated.... not everybody's taste I would imagine, but they are very clean and spacious, even the smaller rooms.

I have a few concerns - I think it is overpriced for the area, a single room costing around 590 Kuna per night. There has been a price rise in the short space of time since it opened. My other concern is that they were putting used bathroom slippers in the rooms. I complained about this, but they continued to do so. I found this rather unhygienic. All rooms do have good quality bathrobes and towels, so the slippers may be forgiven...just don't wear them!!!

Staff at reception are friendly and welcoming, and the service in the bar and restaurant was very good.

The hotel has tried extremely hard to get it right and its nearly there.... just a few teething problems. Well worth a visit....
