“Back to Cavtat after 11 years - loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2011

We chose this accommodation because of these reviews and certainly were not disappointed. Our apartment was excellent for our needs: to be able to get a good rest after day's "work" on the beach. Antun was a wonderful host, he took good care of our needs, was available if needed. Thank you! We will be back and this time it won't take 11 years!

And yes...there is that hill... but it is fine.

“Great Apartments - good value, location, and hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2011

This was our first visit to Croatia; we specifically chose Bacan apartments as the reviews were good. We were not disappointed. Antun the owner was waiting for us at the airport, and switfly got us checked into the accommodation. The apartments were serviced daily, and were absolutley spotless and everything was of excellent quality. The bus stop directly opposite is a great bonus. The steep hill down to the harbour was a little tough on the calves for the first couple of days, but a little more than a 5 minute walk down is not a problem at all. The fact that Bacan is slightly back from the harbour is reflected in the price that you pay. The bus service was however welcome sometimes on the journey back in the heat! Thank you Antun for providing us with a great holiday home; we will return for sure!

“Wonderful apartments and superb friendly hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2011

4th time staying here which tells you something. Antun and Natasha are excellent hosts, extremely helpful and friendly. Apartments are spotless, bus to Dubrovnik right outside the door, supermarket 100 metres away and now a new bar restaurant has opened 50 metres away on opposirt side of the road. We keep coming back to Bacan because we love it there and will continue to do so. There is a steep hill from the town up to the apartments but if its too much, the bus drops you at the door from the station which is in the centre. Cavtat itself is the most perfect place in the world, stunning scenery with lovely restaurants and bars. SUPERB!

“Comfortable accommodation with friendly staff”

We enjoyed our trip to Cavtat and the Bacan apartments were a good, honest three star option for our stay.

Antun and his wife Natasha were always around to give any advice and were very friendly.

The only disadvantage is the very steep hill that needs to be tackled to get into the main harbour area of Cavtat - downhill on the way and uphill on the way back. In fact it is one very steep hill and another with a hill and many steps. On the plus side it does help to work off all the lovely food.

Cavtat itself is beautiful with nice cafes and restaurants and a scenic harbour with many expensive boats moored. It is a great place to chill out and just be.

The Bacan apartments are great if you a physically fit and don't mind a significant climb at the end of your evening and the price reflects the location. To be down near the action would cost far more.

We visited Dubrovnik, Mostar, Kotor and Budva on our holiday and would highly recommend these experiences.

We enjoyed our trip.

Happy holidays!

“Good value and great service”

We had been in email correspondence with Natasa Bacan prior ro our departure so we were all set to be met at the airport. On the day of arrival we were promptly met by Antun Bacan who helped us with our baggage and swiftly whisked us off to the apartment which was only a five-ten minute drive away.

Antun showed us into our apartment and we quickly settled in. The apartment (3) had a well-equpped kitchen complete with microwave, 2 ring electric hob kettle, toaster and good selection of pots, pans, plates, cups, glasses, cuttlery and kitchen utensils. It was also nice to see we had been provided with washing-up liquid and a new sponge as these are often items you have to bring with you or go and buy in self-catering apartments. Small amounts of tea and coffee were also provided on arrival which were re-stocked during our visit although I had brought my own tea-bags (true Brit abroad!)

Our 2 year old daughter was provided with a pull-out sofa bed to sleep on in the kitchen/dining area which was adequate although I had to ensure she was kept fully safe every night by putting dining chairs all around the bed to make sure she couldn't climb out and get to anything dangerous in the kitchen area or fall out of bed onto the hard tiled floor! We had no mishaps all week though so I don't consider this to be a problem!

The bathroom which had a shower cubicle, toilet and sink was clean and we were given fresh towels frequently thorughout our stay. A reasonable hair dryer was available in the vanity cupbaord and basic toiletries were provided and replenished during our stay also.

The bedroom was clean but the double bed was a bit strange with 2 seperate mattresses within 1 base so that you eneded up with a hard wooden division between you - not designed for snugglers although with the heat during our stay this was probably just as well!

We used the air con only ocassionally and found it adequate and not noisy.

The location of the apartments may cause some visitors a problem as it is at the top of the hill meaning quite a steep walk back after a meal in the evening but this wasn't an issue for us or our two year old so unless you have severe disabilities then I wouuldn't consider this a real issue. On the plus side, the apartments are conveniently close to the Pemo Supermarket which is much nicer than the one in town and also there is a bus stop across the road which means you can get the Number 10 bus to Dubrovnik without having to walk to the main bus station in town too.

The best thing about these apartments were the owners Natasa and Antun who provided excellent customer service. They made it very clear that they wanted us to have a great holiday and gave us a mobile phone number to ring day or night if we needed anything outside of their main hours. We only had to ask and they would try and help immediately for example when the plug in mosquito repellent ran out we popped into reception to ask if we could have another and Natasa gave us the one from reception there and then and then the next day we came back from our day out to find a brand new one on our dning table too! We were given little chocolates and sweets as welcome gifts and as it was my birthday I was also given a box of chocolates and a note wishing me a happy birthday which was a lovely touch. Antun also kindly booked a table for us at the Hotel Major (see review).

On our final day of our holiday the weather turned bad and it rained non-stop all day but Antun kindly drove us into town to allow ut to have our final meal rather than popping to the local pizzeria (across the road which was fine but very basic).

In summary, the apartments are clean, well-equipped and are run by two of the nicest people we met in Croatia. Thanks Antun and Natasa.
