My girlfriend and I booked this hotel in advance for our short stay in Lijiang (two nights). It is located a bit outside Lijiang, at the entrance of Shuhe old town (which is similar to Lijiang's old town, but not as nice). The trip from the airport to the hotel will cost somewhere between ¥80-100 (you can just agree on ¥100 if you are not stingy, but be sure to take an official cab), a trip to Lijiang old town about ¥20. From the hotel, one can go directly to Shuhe old town, which is nice for a walk around, some tourist shopping and maybe some dinner - although Chinese on a level that one can order food is good-to-have, seeing as most restaurants do not have English or picture menus.
The room was nice and very quiet, located on a third floor (walk-up); the hotel is not a high-rise, but rather a number of three-storey buildings arranged around a nice small garden with pool. The whole setting is quite picturesque, especially with the mountain in the background. The room is spacious, and includes a nice bathroom; the hot water supply is not unlimited, but replenishes quickly (~30-60 minutes) when exhausted. The TV has some US cabel channels (HBO, Max, CNN, etc.); these do not work reliably though. Max was the least reliable and hardly worked, and even HBO would often freeze for anything from a few seconds to several minutes. There is a computer with internet connection in the room; the PC is slow but usable. My only gripe with this room is the bed, which is extremely hard (think 5cm / 2 inches of mattress on a wood board) and makes sleeping not too pleasant.
The staff were friendly, though there are only 1 or 2 who actually speak English - and even then not well enough to settle matters via the room phone; I needed to go down to the front desk to make myself understood. They managed to arrange a day trip to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain for us, if only via a rented taxi (¥250 for the day). There seem to be buses going there from Lijiang, but either the staff did not know the city well enough, or did not speak English well enough to tell us how to go about this. It seems better to arrange trips by yourself, rather than trust the hotel staff to do it. They were always ready to tell taxi drivers where to take us, though.
The breakfast buffet is nothing spectacular, and is in an unheated restaurant (quite cold in the morning, but normal for the region).
