I had a reservation at the Alta Vista as part of a trip to golf on the Robert Trent Jones course. It seemed affordable (meaning cheap) and decent. That was not the case. First, the hotel itself is located on a dark back road marked by little signs - it's not on a main drag. Second, the rooms smell and are very outdated and worn. I think the rooms were outdated in 1985. Third, the hotel itself has seen far better days. It's worn and not clean. Our group was really disappointed (though we made a number of jokes about our plight). We went back downstairs and said the room was unacceptable - the staff gave us a refund. We left and got a room someplace else. If you have no money and don't care where you sleep, just stay in your car. This was far below our expectations and should be avoided. Go with a name-brand hotel.

My husband and I stayed for one night here and it was very peaceful. The staff that we saw was nice. We received a complimentary coupon for our breakfast and it was really nice also. Our overall visit was very well.

Pretty good overall. After reading some of the other reviews, I actually booked a backup hotel just in case. I did not need it. The room was clean. The mattresses comfortable. Sheets and pillows were fresh. The view was nice. The breakfast was not so nice. There were 2 small buffet tables with some eggs, sausage and a little bacon and fruit. That is about it. But breakfast was free. The first night was a little noisy with some kind of frat party, but it did not last too late. The second night was quiet except for a loud series of train whistles in the vicinity around 5:00 am. Our neighboring room said they had no hot water, but we had plenty. Checkout was a breeze. All in all, nothing special. For the price, I would consider staying there again.

I stayed in this hotel back in November and we loved it so much my fiance and I are getting married there on the Garden Terrace. The view is incredible and the service is fantastic. The hotel is not your typical chain hotel which makes it appealing to me. The breakfast was great too! I would recommend it to try.
