“Nice deluxe hotel, but a bit isolated”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2007

Rooms
I had a large room with two queen size beds, a desk, armchairs and an equally large bathroom with shower, separate bathtub and a WC that is divided from the rest of the bathroom by a glass door. I had a balkony with a nice view over the lake. As the rest of the hotel, the room was very modern and new.

Rooms have free LAN internet access at 64kp/s. for higher speed, there is a fee.

Facilities
The hotel has a great gym with a number of cardio and weight machines for a daily fee of BRL 15. There is also a huge outside pool.

The hotel has a superb breakfast buffet.

Service
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Location
The hotel is located on the lake in a pretty isolated area. There is nothing much around except for the presidential residence. You need to take your car or a taxi to get anywhere. But then again, this is true pretty much for all of Brasilia, so it may not be a too big downturn.

“very luxe, though boring (not really the hotel's fault)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2007

I stayed here with a group of 20 students from Johns Hopkins on a cultural tour of Brazil. Needless to say, Brasilia was the least exciting of our stops on the tour (we were more into raging in Rio). That's why I thanked my lucky stars that we stayed in this hotel: it is very sleek and luxe, with huge luxury bathrooms. So if I was bored here, at least I had an extremely comfy bed (we're talking very high thread count sheets). The grounds are expansive and well kept, so I spent a lot of time walking around for exercise. You can even walk to the presidential palace from the hotel. That's about all there is to do, though. We did swim in the big pool at night, and I enjoyed the sauna. The pool and hotel are nice, but everything is extremely flat and bland, almost like you are on the moon or something. I'd recommend staying here if you have to come to Brasilia.

“Does not provide basics IE Iron, Ironing Board, Cofffe Pot, refrigerator.”

Great location with good facilities, friendly staff, beautiful location. Must improve security, by providing latch locks inside, peep hole on doors. By God install a Bar. Busineess meetings take long hours, will be nice to have a place to go within the Hotel and don't have to go anywhere and then go to sleep and be ready for next day.

“superb hotel / value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2005

I write this review from the Blue Tree. It is billed as a 5* hotel, and it is in fact close by US standards. Dramatic public spaces, it is built on the edge of large lake and surrounded by lawns and pools. Along with a sister hotel (100 yards away, also the Blue Tree, but for people who rent by the week or more) this "urban resort" is on large campus like grounds. Many of the rooms, which are quite large and simply decorated, with one dramatic element (a striking picture over the bed), overlook the lake and the presidential palace. The bathroom, all in granite, features what may be the longest tub in Brazil. The hotel is very quiet (at the moment the only large party appears to be a group of diplomats from the congo), the staff is friendly (though not always that efficient -- a request for a 110 volt convertor has taken hours) and the food is excellent and reasonable. The price I am currently paying is about 110 / night, which is a absolutely superb value.

The downside? It is antiseptic, even a little sterile. Like much of Brasilia, it is distant from just about everything -- there is no sense of neighborhood or anything to walk to.
