I got a great rate for this hotel, so it´s really enjoyable.But it´s not a 5 star hotel in my opinion.
The breakfast could be much better with more variety of breads, yougurts and so one.The property looks in many aspects tired.The staff is gentle and warm.The gym although it´s located in a very pretigious position has old equipments, there´s no mineral water....but you do your jogging over looking the pool and ocean.
The pros are:The room size, very nice; the swimming pool with a great view.
In a overall if you get a great rate, is a great hotel!

+ if you are on the ocean side, it is quiet and all you hear is the ocean
+/- buffet in the restaurant is ok and tasty, though the presentation and especially the worn down dining area are a downside
+/- location is what you can see on any map, not in the center wich means you pay for the taxi, but it is quiet
- in need of restauration, some work being done, but this is only the tip of the iceberg. Rooms, communal areas are run down
- no access to the beach, and no beach worth mentioning either
- pool are is relatively small
- definetly not woth the money

Used the hotel for a trip to Morro de Sao Paulo , and liked. A little decay,but in a nice location ( ask for an ocean view). Breakfast very fatty but with a lot of fruits. I recommend the restaurant Amado near the marina in cidade baixa, very expensive but almost flawless!

Stayed a weekend here while visiting Salvador with friends. The hotel is clean, modern and has a nice breakfast in the morning. We even had dinner there the night we checked in because we were all so tired from the flight. It was actually very good. Staff was helpful and we had a pleasant stay. We had booked because the hotels we wanted in the old town didn’t have enough rooms to accommodate us all.

The only downside I can see is the location, you’re going to have to take a taxi to any sights in Salvador. However, I read some reviews about how sketchy the old town gets after dark, so maybe that’s actually an upside.
