We had a nice and relaxing stay and were generally happy. The service and the food were good and the amenities were clean and well kept. Because this is an expensive establishment, one is well advised to look around for less pricey alternatives, especially if one wants to stay any good length of time in Praia do forte. Wi-fi, cocktails and alcoholic beverages are add-ons to be paid for extra, as are lunches and, of course, spa sessions and excursions. Over all, for a mature couple in need of a short break 'away from it all' like us, this resort offered some of the best of what we wished for. We stayed 5 nights in low season, spending most of our short holiday overlooking the ocean or dipping into its waves. Because it was so pleasant lounging next to the beach, we never even used a single one of the 8 swimming pools or spas. The bedroom was generally clean and quiet, as was the bathroom, and the bed very comfortable. We would recommend this hotel and the nearby Praia do forte also to women travelling alone, to parents with young children (the entertainment for kids looked great), groups (conferences), and to older couples. What we found less than perfect was the following: we did not find a telephone number of the resort on the website. They said they would remedy that but just in case, here it is: [--]. Also, there was no indication as to how to get to the resort if not by car (it is more or less an hour from the airport after all). More or less by chance we found Christian a great and trustworthy taxidriver you can ring under this number: [--]. Other improvements we thought would be good to introduce would be: opening the ocean-side swimmingpool until 11.00 pm. Selecting a good, affordable housewine which would offer a good basis from which otherwise to venture into the (extensive) winelist.
