“Lots of Nooooo's”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2007

No oven, no hair dryer, no daily towels (had to put them outside the door if we wanted new ones, and that was only 5 days a week), no hangers, no hideabed (the one we supposedly had was unuseable), no "fully-equipped kitchen", no airconditioning except in one bedroom and it was inadequate.

As if that was not enough, microwave was old and took twice as long to cook anything, mattresses were AWFUL as were the pillows (not at all clean), toilet clogged up the first day and it took them a full 24 hours to take care of it, glass shower door came off the track posing a danger to anyone trying to use the shower.

The pix must have been taken 20 years ago, as the whole place is extremely rundown. The only good thing was that the grounds were well taken care of.

Would not stay here again if my life depended on it!

“Horrible housekeeping at Solar World!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2006

We stayed at Solar World for a little over two months, the summer of 2006. We moved into the area from out of state and my employer booked our stay there for temporary housing until we found a house. We were dissapointed in the accomodations from the minute we walked into the room. The apartment had an aweful odor and although it was non-smoking, we frequently got to enjoy our neighbor's second hand smoke via some sort of vent or duct that must have connected the two apartments.

Before arriving, we were lead to believe that there was a "fully stocked kitchen" and when I talked to the staff over the phone, they assured me that they would have everything we would need. It wasn't until we arrived that we found that the "fully stocked kitchen" was hardly that. There was no oven and only a two burner "stove top" to cook with. Unfortunately for us, one of the burners was broken, so we basically just had that, and an extremely old, leaky microwave to cook with for 2 months.

Solar World also promotes their weekly housekeeping service as a major calling card to staying with them long term. Again, when I spoke with the staff before arriving, I was assured that I would not need any of my own cleaning supplies because of this wonderful service. In the two months that we stayed there, our shower was not cleaned even one time. The toilet was scrubbed once, at my request.....the rest of the time it was sprayed and left alone or just completely ignored. The sink and kitchen area was never touched, and the floors were not mopped even once. They did vacuum, change the towels and sheets, but
that's as far as it went. AWEFUL!

The internet service was nice, but consistently went down at about 8 pm every night and was not working again until the staff arrived the next morning at about 8:30.

Would not stay here again unless it was the last option available!

There are some new extended stay housing developments popping up in the area and I would check them out first!

“Overpriced ($130) for what you get. It was like staying in an old apartment.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2006

I needed a place with two rooms, a queen and two singles and paid $130. I think a $70 charge would have been more appropriate. The furnishings are not new and modern as advertised. The sofa was old and dingy and the rooms looked like they were older and well used. There was only enough hot water for one bath (and it was an older small jacuzzi tub). The bathroom was very small and came with one small round soap that only made it through one bath. I was bummed there was not a hair blower in the room as I did not bring mine expecting the room to be equipped with one. On the positive side, it was a three room suite and did have a small kitchen. Perhaps if I had needed the kitchen I would have felt better about paying the $130.

The other positive was that it was a clean room and the front desk person was very nice.

  • Liked — The person working the front desk
  • Disliked — The price and lack of hot water

I enjoyed my stay at Solar World! The staff exceded my expectations. The room was emaculate and it really felt like home with all the accomadations. ie. microwave, stove, cable tv, and everything worked!! I also loved the FREE landuary, What a pleasant surprise. The location was great and only 10 min from downtown. I'd stay here again. :-)
