“cozy and great surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 April 2011

We stayed at the Brian Patch Inn on our way to Augusta. It is in the historical part of Aiken. Rooms are seperate from main house. Both have private bathrooms. Very clean and maintained. We went in April so all the Azaleas and dogwoods were blooming. We went for a walk around the neighborhood and had a great time. There is polo field, and the historical Aiken horse training track(must experience breakfast at Pockets Track Kitchen at the track). Great area with super nice houses. Owners are awesome and made us feel right at home. Decorated in antiques and Old English style fixtures and decor. Quaint and cozy. I would definitely go back.

“Cozy, private getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2005

It's been 4 years since my husband and I stayed at the Briar Patch. The grounds have a clay tennis court although it looked like it had been a long time since it was used. There were several beautiful azalea bushes on property but we spent little time outside our room except walking back and forth to our car. The 2 rooms are located in an attached but private building from the owner's residence in a converted stable and tackroom. Just inside the entry door is a small area that separates the two rooms with a guestbook and a small fridge. We stayed in the room to the right. The room to the left was unoccupied at the time but was unlocked. We took a peek--it had two twin beds and appeared clean and taken care of. It had an attached bathroom. The decorating trended toward chenille and flowers--too girlish for our tastes. Our room on the other hand was more masculine with antiques and hunter/horse theme accents in earth tones. Our bed was quite large, cozy and elevated; I had to climb into it, literally. We had a private and clean but small bathroom. The breakfast was served in the owner's kitchen and included muffins, fruit salad, juice, coffee, and lots of pleasant conversation and comraderie. We would recommend this B&B and would return if visiting Aiken.
