Admittedly, our visit to Anne Hathaway's was not super-recent, but what I remember of it is as follows:

- Pretty decent location, close to Safeway, not too far from the OSF (ten-minute walk or so).
- Cute but fairly tiny rooms. At least ours was.
- Delicious breakfasts IF the owner was cooking, which was not always the case. Sometimes he delegated breakfast-making to his staff, who were... err... a lot less proficient, let's say. Mediocre breakfast when the staff cooked.
- Owner was a bit condescending and rude, surprisingly. Not sure what that was about... my working theory is that my gf and I came across as 'rubes' in his book, since when we're on vacation we dress down and like to make small talk and be a bit silly. Oh well.
- Nice scones.
- Prices were a bit high. Not the best value.

Overall, not terrible, not great. I probably wouldn't go back. There are better places in Ashland.

I wish I could be as positive as some of the other reviews for the Anne Hathaway B&B, but my recent stay there was downright awful. My wife and I went in what is considered the "off" season and found the quality, cleanliness and service to be just that: off. The room, while cute and close to town, seemed like it hadn't been cleaned and there were even someone's leftovers molding away in our fridge. The jacuzzi tub advertised on the site didn't work, and there was no toilet paper in the bathroom, which sounds funny but is actually quite an inconvenience when you're in need. If you're staying in the off season, you should be advised that the "breakfast" portion of the B&B experience is really in name only, although the owners did provide a loaf of banana bread which my wife (no joke) pulled a large rubber band out of our last morning there. Any attempts to reach the front desk had to go through their outsourced answering service and while messages were left, we never received any call back. The owner seemed genuinely apologetic during check out (even though he asked me to come back later because he was eating breakfast) and was kind enough to offer me a ballpoint pen for our troubles. Gee, thanks! Simply put, we won't be back and I would have a hard time recommending the Anne Hathaway to anyone visiting Ashland.

My friends & I have stayed here a couple of times over the past few years. As we need multiple rooms, this is a great find as many of the other B&Bs cannot accommodate us. We have found them to be very easy to work with and the rooms are really cute. They seem to be continually updating the place. Food is absolutely wonderful! Its an easy walk to the theater.

We stayed in one of the garden suites across the street from the main house - it was delightful. Very quiet, plenty of room, comfortable bed, lovely deck and garden. In the suites you can get a cold breakfast with wonderful baked goods in the "garden shed" a few steps away. Or you can pay a few dollars extra to have breakfast in the main house, which should only be undertaken if you have a capacity for a huge amount of food. Conversation at the big dining table is stimulating, and the host and hostess, transplanted Easterners, are wonderfully hospitable. We've been to Ashland many times - this was our favorite spot to stay so far.
