I am the mother of 5 children, ages at the time of the visit (20, 21, 18, 17 and 8 ). Well the two older children are young women and so they brought along their boyfriends to help promote our family closeness since they plan to be in the family. Well, I never really harbored a a desire to camp. The kids sparked the topic a time or two. Well we decided to give it a try. We live in the heart of Oklahoma CIty so we wanted to get out and make it a true experience. I am so glad that we all decided to make k-river our first experience. It is a privately owned, nice wooded area. The shade from the trees was very very nice and cooling and a relief from the summer's heat. The staff and owner were excellent hosts. They did everything imaginable to make you feel like you were home away from home. They brought wood for the night fire for roasting, there were not tons of rules but it was understood that they expected you to respect the property and other campers. They were very pleasant and helpful, the kids pitched tents and my husband and myself stayed in one of the cabins. Camping is okay but it is ludicrous to expect for a human to stay outside in the heat of a tent (kids are crazy). My cabin was nice cool and comfortable. I had my running water inside and my toilet which is a must in my opinion. It was nice that no TV was available because this trip was meant for the family to get out and do things together. We fished (great turn out!), tried out the canoes, which none of us seemed to perfect but we had fun trying. We nature walked, played volleyball and laughed by the night fire as we prepared our first meal outside without modern utensils. The kids thought it was cool to catch their food and prepare it for the nights dinner, buying it and catching it are too different things and trust me it could not have tasted better (they did provide a portable single cooktop). Overall it was a great experience and we lookd forward to going back. The greatest part was that we were able to bring our four legged child (a pomeranian) she loved it... she loved the freedom and the wonderful natural environment..she's a house pup but chose to sleep outside with the kids.......... Thanks K river.......... The Parks Family
