Sirca apartments are a lovely small complex of apartments (approx 14) surrounding a nice pool area. It's family run with a small staff so you see the same faces each day and get to know the staff, who we found to be friendly and helpful and not overbearing or over-friendly. We enjoy using our rooms as a base rather than spend whole time at the complex and we didn't find we were snubbed or treated rudely (as some other reviews have said) just because we didn't eat in restaurant every night or use the bar often.
The Sirca comprises of a bar area with several tables that turn into open air restaurant at night, which offers a day (breakfast & snack) menu and different evening menu which seemed reasonable and snacks we ate were tasty. Soft drinks, local wines and beer were reasonable but beware asking for premium brands (martini etc.) as they can be expensive as i found out! this area has pool table and table football and book/magazine exchange shelf.
There is also a small supermarket to buy water, booze, snacks and fags but not much else, but there are plenty of other small supermarkets locally and a bigger one that sells bread, papers etc near the beach.
Plenty of sunbeds around Sirca's pool and some hammocks and big cushions. We found that we never had to get up early to 'bag' a bed there seemed plenty to go round. In fact the best bit of this holiday was being able to have a lie-in and there still being beds available at pool and on beach all day. Also small kids play area but as isnt covered with a shade might be bit too hot for them to play in. No loud thumping music at poolside either, what music there was seemed to be played at reasonable level and was easy listening.
The apartments are simply furnished but have everything you need for short stay. Kitchenette has microwave, 2 ring hob, kettle and fridge. Bathroom has shower, sink, loo and hairdryer. Plenty of room for 2 people but as we had 2 sofabeds in sitting room imagine it could become bit of a squeeze for 4 or more. Was also a breakfast bar and tv in sitting area (although we could never get it to work).
Our only small gripe was the level of cleaning (or lack of it). Our bed was made up for us each day and sheets/towels changed during the week. Bed had a bottom sheet on mattress but just a cotton throw (which was a bit scratchy) with no top sheet? Our rep said the cleaner tops'n'tails rooms each day and does a good clean twice a week - wrong. The beds were made and bins emptied each day (toilet paper in bins not flushed) but floors got sandier & progressively dirtier during week and the bathroom mirror, sink and shower were dirty from start to finish. We could have complained but instead just enjoyed our holiday and only tipped cleaner for what she did do. Take a spare toilet roll as they only provide one - although more can obviouly be bought in the shop on site too.
Sirca seemed to have only British guests when we were there.
The location is great, a short walk to the beach but far enough away for it to be quiet at night. However take ear plugs - even if you do close windows you can still be kept awake by both circada's at night and numerous dogs from miles around which seem to start barking at about 4am!
The resort of Bitez is not for you if you like all night raving, there are few hotels that offer open air entertainment and screens available for sports events. However, most of the night time activities involve eating at one of the many fantastic restaurants along the beach front and sitting around afterwards on huge cushions and comfy seating sipping cocktails - fab! We ate in different place every night and they were all good. Especially recommended is the Mayflower with its upstairs open air seating with lovely views across the bay and friendly waiters.
The beach during the day is great - the bay is 'full' of sunbeds, all free and supplied by the various cafes and restaurants along it. However you do not have to buy from them to use beds as it is a public beach. We found the best spot to be at the far end where the beds had more space between them, this was near a small kids area with a slide and in front of the Poyraz restaurant - which is recommended for delicious lunchtime snacks and ice creams. Beware however of the beach dogs - they were all well behaved and didnt scrounge or pester but they would occasionally 'mark' against sun beds and worse on the large cushions on beach, which then people would lie on - yuk! We chose to use sunbeds after witnessing that.
Sirca is short walk from where Dolmus mini-bus picks up to go to Bodrum. Costs 3 Lira to go anywhere. Took 15 minutes to get to Bodrum bus station. Also taxi stop near to Sirca - took taxi to Gumbet one evening for 13 Lira. Gumbet was full of kareoke bars etc. which was okay for one evening but glad to get back to quieter pace of Bitez.
Would definitley go back to both Bitez and Sirca apartments - we had a lovely, relaxing week!
Room Tip: rooms facing bar area have sunshine morning and evening
