“Great facilities, good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2010

Overall we enjoyed our stay here very much. The buildings seem new and are well decorated. The lawns and fountains were well maintained. The outdoor pool looked beautiful but disappointingly it was closed, although it was about 28 degrees and sunny. The indoor pool was fine though, with clean locker rooms. We got foot massages in the evening, they start at 98 rmb for 70 minutes.
The Chinese restaurant was good although the English translations were unhelpful and there were no photos in the menu, so every dish was a bit different from what we expected. The breakfast buffet was fine, nothing exceptional.
This location is very far from Hangzhou's famous tourist sites with the exception of the Song Dynasty Village theme park. However there are very nice peaceful hikes within walking or a short bus or taxi ride away and it was nice to get away from the busy city center.

“Scammers, inexperienced service”

We stayed at this hotel for one night as part of a multi-city China tour. We were impressed at first. The lobby was very pretty and featured a huge fish tank filled with koi. However, it went straight downhill from there. The tour guide had pre-ordered a dinner including a local specialty, Beggar's Chicken. The hotel was unable to serve the dish because the entire kitchen staff had resigned and the new staff did not know how to prepare it. Instead, they substituted it with an unappetizing boiled duck. After dinner, we proceeded to our room, which entailed a five minute walk outdoors. The room was an unwelcome surprise! There was a glass wall between the shower and the bedroom. Also, the shower stall was not fully enclosed, so the floor was soaked afterward. Do not share a room with someone who may open the Venetian blinds without your permission. It was cold, the heat did not work, and the hardwood floors did not help. Other problems -- confusing light switches, hard-to-use television remote control, and television channels and volume changed by themselves. We asked the front desk to mail postcards for us, but they were unsure of the amount of postage or how to get them to the post office. They seemed more interested in reading our cards than getting them in the mail. Breakfast was cold because it had not yet been reheated. When we left, hotel management accused another couple in our party of stealing several items, all of which obviously would be of no use to them. The hotel wanted to withhold the tour company's deposit. Luckily, our guide knew it was a common scam and handled the situation well. Nevertheless, our departure was postponed by more than an hour.
