This place could have been ok if it wasn't for the toilet smell that was so bad it actually woke my husband up 3 times during the night. Because of it, time spent in the room was uncomfortable you kind of felt that walking into the bathroom barefooted was a bad idea. Upon asking for a taxi at night we were told it was touch and go and this is a bad area to be wanting to actually get anywhere. umm...ok? The taxi showed up within 5mins of the hotel calling them though, so it worked out ok in the end.
Apart from that, everything was good, especially for the price. Nicely decorated, internet worked, great location walkable to the lake, the teafields and the tea museum, all of which we really enjoyed. Because of the smell we changed hotels for the next night to a place charging a similar price in a similarly good location, but the next place was even worse... the smell was horrific and the decor was awful. We started to wish we had have asked reception at Elan to find us a room that doesn't stink, although looking at the way the room is designed (no real door on the toilet room, just a swinging glass so no seal, and a stone floor that might trap smells) we weren't too sure how this request would have panned out.
