“Great location, value and staff”

Still has some of it's "Soviet" character - especially in the lobby, but the room (an older, cheaper, unrenovated room) was just fine- no a/c, but it wasn't necessary when I was there. All rooms have balconies, and the newer ones may have more amenities. Free wi-fi in the lobby, and maybe in some of the newer rooms.

I paid 1650roubles/night for my single room including a nice breakfast. Front desk staff were really nice and eager to help. There was a problem with my shower, and I reported it in the morning when I was heading out, and it was fixed by the time I got back. Very surprisingly good service even in today's Russia.

“First time in the Caucasus”

I should firstly question the previous report. The room rate for a 10th storey, one-bedroomed suite was 4500RUR per night, this is approx. $160. But, the room with large en-suite/jacuzzi/bidet and very large lounge area was excellent. There were 2 balconies. Lifts are small but good quality. Service - perfect. Central to the town and the spa areas. Rooms very warm, probably the only criticism of the room - that its necessary to run all of the hot taps for many minutes before hot water arrives... soviet plumbing?

The description of a bed cover with a hole in it is confusing... the beds are King size, the duvet covers are standard in Russia, therefore the practice is to provide 2 - that butt up to each other. .. hence the "hole"... it is a simple task to overlap them

Rooms small and very basic bathroom facilities. Only single beds and quite hard.
They have refurbished the foyer which is a lot better now and they also take credit cards now.
Service is only average but best place to stay in the region.

“Basic Soviet-era 13-storey in CBD :”

It is possible to book rooms at this hotel on their internet website, paying by VISA. It was about $45US / night for a top floor, 2-bedroom suite for 4. Great views over the CBD of Pyatigorsk, down to Mount Elbrus, 100km? away & 5600metres high. Adoption friendly, there are small 6-table cafes on two of the upper floors, plus expensive disco & restaurants associated on the ground floor. Typical tiny elevators, bedcovers with a large hole in the middle (why do the Russians do that ?!). It is difficult to compare Russian things with the rest of the world: spoilt people might call this a very basic, unfriendly, concrete place, but, .... hey, you're in Russia, and there is only one other hotel nearby. It used to be called 'Rudnik Resort', and is a geothermal spa hotel, slightly better condition, a few miles south-east, & offers Colonic Irrigation as a specialty.
