First impressions sometimes lie and this is definitely the case for this hotel. We arrived after an overnight train trip from Moscow. It is 10 min walking distance form the station but be warned that the entrance is certainly less than salubrious. Although located on Nevsky the entrance is via a rather seedy back lane. The solid security entrance door is opened only by buzzing the intercom at the entrance. The reception is two floors up a narrow staircase, we arrived early in the morning (8am-ish) but the security helped us with the luggage(thankfully). we booked a 'luxury' room at the price of 160Euros per night - a bargain by St Petersburg standards - and the room was extremely large( with separate lounge area) and comfortable and included a spa bath. Although breakfast was included we were never up in time to see what this consisted of- as it was time of summer nights the nights went quite long. The hotel is small and is equipped with a small kitchen/common area. Do not come expecting a 5 star experience and you should not be disappointed. We found this hotel to be extremely comfortable, clean, friendly .... and of course affordable. Location was almost perfect close to train staions and within walking distance of much of central St Petersburg with many resaurants close by. One tip- if out late at night may be advisable to to get the taxi to drop you at the door to avoid the walk through the alley.
