Kizhi is difficult to get to. Which is a shame, as it gives a wonderful picture of past life in Russia that one does not see in any of the existing cities. We visited while on a river cruise. It has some unusual buildings that you probably cannot see anywhere else in the world. It is a step back in time to a rural place where community was everything. The magnificent church built wiithout nails is truly a wonder. While there we were honored with a song by some of the priests of the church. It was truly a living cultural history lesson.
