If you want to feel like you are back in the Russia of the 1990s, this the place for you: terrible food; bizarre service by almost everyone; time stuck somewhere around 1998. I have lived in Russia for many years, but this hotel is odd: restaurant was so terrible I never went back after a cold breakfast (this for 6000 Roubles a night) but the rooms are fine and the position is good. If you need an average place to stay and don't care about eating at the hotel (many good places nearby), this hotel is fine. The locals all say the Hyundai is the best place in town but it was full of local mafiosi and had about as much charm as a Hyundai car. Bottom line: fine to stay here if you are prepared for the madness of post-Soviet Russia, but don't bother with breakfast.
