“Friendly service, efficient but not cosy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

The hotel is good. It is clean, up to date and efficient but the ambiance isn't cosy. Staff is very friendly and service oriented in contrast to most other Russian hotels.
The rooms are clean and the refridge is filled with some (non-alcoholic) beverages and snacks which are included in the price. Spending a few nights is OK but the hotel isn't the right place for a nice evening out.

Dear guest, thank you for taking time to review our hotel. It is good to hear that you found it clean and staff friendly. We don't aim for creating a place for an "evening out" - we would like to offer a cozy, home like atmosphere. We will look into how to make the hotel more cozy!
Thank you for your input - hope to see you again at our hotel. Katerina Cronstedt, Managing Director Katerina Hotels

“THE WORST IN MOSCOW”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

people found this review helpful

It is 4 year that i travell to moscow for buisness, and i slept in many hotel, but this has been one of the worst.
I choose this hotel even if it was a bit more expensive than otehr especially because of the good rewiew that i read here on trip advisor.....but it was a mistake.....
the room was totally different from the pictures on the internet, very very small and incredibily hot without possibility to convince the heating system of the room to cool down......but the really worst part of all was the matress......I travel a lot and i slept on almost every kind of matres i have no problem with it, but it NEVER HAPPENED to me to sleep for 170euro on a matress that have the springs of iron of the matress that STICK in all your body.....i slept terribly...... so for this money i dont advise this hotel at all........because the most important thing in a hotel is the quality of the sleeping and this was incredibily POOR here.

breakfast was ok but nothing special

Dear guest, I am really sad to hear you were not happy with your stay. If only you would have told us during your stay - we would have changed the mattress and helped you to regulate the temperature in room. Many of our guests appreciate our firm beds, some prefer softer ones – if you let us know your preferences - we can adjust to them.
As stated on our website: Medium rooms are 21 sqm and Large rooms aprox 37 sqm. Should you decide to give us a second chance we could offer you a stay in a Large room.
Please let me know what you would like to see for breakfast, we are open for suggestions!
Kind regards, Katerina

“Great Hotel for a great price!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

We stayed at Katerina Park in Moscow in July and really liked it. We booked it off of booking.com and got a great price especially for Moscow. It's in an alright location, but about a 5-7 mins walk from the metro. There are 4 exit/entrances to the metro station so make a note of which one is the closest. We lucked out when we first got there and picked the right one not knowing there were a few and it was just right up the street from it. We got home the night after a little late and couldn't figure out what side of the intersection we should head though, and the area gets a little sketchy after dark. The hotel had a great buffet, like huge buffet! And breakfast was included. The room itself wasn't much to be honest, but clean. Not as updated as I'd like, but hey you're in Moscow, so it was definitely good enough. I'd say it's a 3star in N.A. standards. Huge plus is the free breakfast and mini-bar. Come on, where can you find any place that has a free mini-bar??? The staff were also nice, and tried very hard to understand our questions and to help us too.

“Good budget hotel, great staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

I stayed at the Katerina Park for 4 nights in mid-November 2011. It's a pleasant, well-kept budget hotel similar to a Comfort Inn or a Super 8 in the U.S. Here are a few specifics.

LOCATION. Like other reviewers have noted, this hotel is not exactly in the middle of things in Moscow. However, it is definitely within walking distance of 2 different Metro stations ("Prazhskaya" is closest at 3 minutes by foot; "Yuzhnaya" is more like 7 minutes; both are at the bottom of the Grey line). The Metro will deliver you to the immediate vicinity of Red Square in about half an hour; just beware of the rush hour crowds.

ROOMS. Mine was a standard room, small but clean and comfortable. Of course, I happen to like firm beds and flat pillows; someone else might not. The walls are thin - the 2 a.m. lovemaking next door sounded like they were in the same bed as me - but that's common at many budget hotels. The shower stall could use a grip bar - when I slipped, there was little to grab on to. The heated towel rack was a nice touch.

AMENITIES. The "free mini-bar" should probably be called a "free snack bar" - it contains a couple of water bottles, some soda, juice, and a few vending-machine-type snacks. Not that I'm complaining - it's nice to get something for free in Moscow - but the term "mini-bar" can be somewhat deceiving. The WiFi is free throughout the hotel; it's not super-fast, but it gets the job done. There is an ATM machine on premises.

FOOD. The free breakfast buffet is probably the biggest and best you've seen anywhere. The food is delicious and presented in an appealing way. The 24-hour bar in the lobby is nice. I did not have a chance to try any food from the restaurant/room service.

STAFF. Courteous, professional, helpful, and multilingual.

BOTTOM LINE. You definitely get your money's worth at Katerina Park, as long as you realize it's 30-45 minutes away from anywhere and bring earplugs.

Dear guest, thank you for taking time to review our hotel! It is good to hear that you enjoyed your stay, liked the service and the breakfast. Thank you also for writing valuable advice to fellow travelers about Location and metro, and I think your “bottom line” sums up what we offer up really well.
We will consider calling the included mini-bar a snack-bar, if it adds more clarity – then why not? Same with grip bar in the shower.
Again, thank you for taking time to share you experience, hope to see you again soon! Katerina Cronstedt, Managing Director Katerina Hotels
