“Great location for Sinulog; good value for price but kinda smelly.”

I stayed at the Kiwi Lodge for three nights during Sinulog. For the price, it is an okay place to stay. (If you are going to Sinulog, you are just a couple of blocks from the parade route and other venues, which is very convenient.) Cleanliness is a concern. The room looked clean enough but smelled funky. The bathroom also had a sewer smell each time we returned from sightseeing, but this dispelled when the air conditioning was turned back on. There is no lift, so if you have mobility issues, make sure you are on a lower floor. On the positive side, parking was free, as was wifi. The restaurant was okay. The staff is friendly and helpful. When going to the hotel, take note that it is on "G" Tud Tud street. There is more than one "Tud Tud" street, the distinguishing feature being the first initial. This was the source of siginficant confusion for us when we first tried to find the place--particularly since it was night-time and street signs are virtually non-existent. I wouldn't stay there again, only because I would rather pay more and have better accommodations. However, to be fair to the Kiwi Lodge, it is definitely above average considering the price you pay for a room.

“clean safe and friendly place to stay”

I`ve stayed here on many occasions over the years and have enjoyed my time here. If your looking for a sterile chain style hotel with no character then this isn`t the place for you. The fact that this establishment is family run makes it stand out from similar places, the staff are extremely helpful and the food (mainly western) is great especially the pies.. The rooms are clean and tidy and the location between the two main shopping malls give it an ideal central location.. This is the ideal place to stay if you have been in the philippines for awhile and need a little western fix.. The area in which it is situated as far as i can tell is safe (i quite often walk to either of the shopping centres with no trouble). I understand this isn`t everyone`s cup of tea but as for value for money , safety, cleanliness , location and friendly staff its hard to beat here in cebu.

“Really good western food”

I had the fortune to meet Dick the owner of Kiwi Lodge whilst staying there. I asked him a few questions about some business propositions that I had in mind, he gave me a lot of information on how I should go about things and was overall very helpful. As this was my first stay here I booked a 'new' Deluxe room as these rooms are on the 3rd floor and further away from the bar on the ground floor. It cost around 1800 pesos a night. As the bar is not a noisy late night thing I could have saved around 450 pesos by getting a normal Deluxe room on the 2nd floor which I will do next time. The bar is a congregation point for 'Foreigners' whom share information on various topics and generally help each other out. The nationalities of people I met there were Kiwis, Aussies, British, Americans, Dutch and Germans. The food was excellent as when you have been to other places in the islands you look forward to some of your own fare when you can get it. The price is a little higher than local food but the savings that you make from staying here (accomodation wise) more than compensates. The Kitchen is very clean, they even serve very nice pies!!! I have tried a number of hotels in the city now and have deceided to stay here in future.

“A great value and a great location!”

I found this hotel on the internet, and the late night I arrived, i was a little taken back and dissapointed with the location and looks, but once I saw the area, met the people and how centrally located it was, i was pleased. If you want a room at the "CROWN PLAZA", then spend your $150+ dollars, but if you want a nice clean friendly place at a bargain price, then you'll enjoy it here. I have a returning trip planned soon for another 2 weeks, and will stay at the Kiwi.

The bar is a fun place to hang out in the afternoon and evenings to get tips on locals and travel ideas. It's like a very mixed version of the TV show "Cheers". The restaurant is very casual and priced reasonable. The staff are always eager to help you out any way they can. I am a security consultant of 40 years, and found the hotel safe and honest. Next trip i will also try a few days at their new beach resort.

The bed was a little hard, and the room was plain, out-dated, and in need of a few minor repairs, but for the price, still a bargain.

Stayed there in September the only good thing about this hotel was that I could bring bar girls back for no extra price..
