We stayed here for two nights as part of our tour round South America. It was probably the least good of the eight hotels we stayed in thoughout our trip, but proved to be a comfortable enough base for our day trips on the lake.
The hotel is situated a little outside of Puno (8 soles in a taxi), we ventured in one evening and found a decent street with bars and restaurants, though otherwise Puno itself doesn't appear to have much to offer.
The corridors are quite dark and dingy, but by comparison our room was a pleasant surprise: large with two double beds and nice enough decor, though perhaps a little tired looking. The view out to the lake was stunning however, and we could also see the Yavari boat from our room - a main attraction in Puno that is accessed via the hotel - we walked down to have a closer look one morning, though you can pay to visit properly.
There is free wifi in the rooms, though we had a little trouble getting connected at first. The staff on reception were helpful enough and delivered an important message to us from our tour guide, though they were unable to change currency for us, having 'run out' of soles, somehow.
Definitely agree with the previous comment about air circulation in the rooms - we definitely suffered from poor sleep and stuffy noses here, and at the time thought it must've been the altitude, even though we'd been acclimatised for four days already.
The main disappointment was the breakfast - lots of choice, but poor quality food and zero service when we were there. We sort of wandered in and help ourselves to a few things on the first morning, the second morning we didn't bother.
