“Inner & Outer Peace”

I just returned from another fabulous journey to Lake Titicaca, Peru staying AGAIN at the Taypikala Lago Hotel. This hotel is right on the lake in Chucuito ~ 20 minutes from Puno. You are away from the hustle & noise of Puno with only the sounds of nature and your heart to keep you company....the breeze, the local sheep & cows, wind chimes.... If you want a place to fully relax and unwind with fabulous staff to help you with every need...stay at the Taypikala Lago. If you are looking for noise and night life, stay in Puno!

Great place to enjoy the lake and your travels and adventures around the lake. Food adequate, rooms nice...but get a room AWAY from the lobby...and hopefully one with a lake view.

Rooms had been updated...but some things weren't working, and things had fallen off the walls. Overall however, good quality.

Interesting to read reviews by KilgoreTr... and dlandryqb . It is true that many guests were seniors - like us! It is a fact that it is 20 minutes outside town.

I really liked this hotel. The fact that it was out of Puno was a plus. It was good to relax after touring round. We had 7 nights in the middle of Cusco which was great.

We were not impressed by Puno anyway, although it is a big improvement on Juliaca.

Views of the lake were pleasant, the rooms were comfortable with two double beds ( if you wished) and there is a small village across the road where you can buy supplies ( beer, wine, water, etc). They also have a couple of lounges where you cna hang out with friends. Lack of WiFi was a minor irritation.

Room Tip: Try and get a room on the terrace/garden. There are sliding doors so you can walk out and sit at one...

“remote and over priced”

Just visited peru for three weeks and this was the most expensive hotel we stayed in but it was far from the best value. The worst thing was that it was so far from anything. 30+ minutes from Puno and a 27 to 30 soles cab ride each way. luckily the resturante is good although it can take a long time. They charge for internet(wifi didn't work) and provide only one computer which is behind the desk so it is the one staff uses too.they $95 a nite and the men's room in the resuturant has no toilet seat.(reminds one of Guatemala at $20/ nite. No TP in ladies room. You have to buy your bottled water from them so they gouge you 15 soles for a 5 sole bottle at any othern hotel, they charge for oxygen(which you'll probably need) and which is free at cheaper hotels. No television in rooms like in cheaper hotels.

Room Tip: stay in town

“I can see how some would rate 4 or 5, but not for me”

I spent a night here, and the hotel certainly had nice views and the staff was friendly enough. I could see how some people would like this hotel (the patrons were generally in the 40s and older crowd). It just wasn't for me: it was very far from Puno, and the town that it is in (Chuquito I believe) literally has nothing in it, so you essentially have to eat at the hotels dining room. Maybe my room was one of the anomalies, but the toilet kept flushing and the hot water turned cold about 3 minutes in (acceptable in most of Peru, but not for $70USD per night, based upon my 2.5 week stay in Peru). There was no wi-fi as promised on the website...there was one computer which was behind the receptionist desk, which is a little inconvenient. When we decided to leave, the staff made us pay an additional $10 fee to leave. Again, not a bad hotel, but not a good one either...
