“Hotel pictures glorified but room clean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Stayed in a Matrimonial Room (Room 207).
Good: Clean room, breakfast included, free pick-up from the bus terminal, friendly service, free internet on 2 computers at reception, cable TV (though older TV, not flat screen), good location 2 blocks behind the cathedral and plaza de armas. It was low/rainy season and we paid USD56 a night for the matrimonial room using the 20% discount provided on tripadvisor.
Bad: We'd seen the nice pictures of the matrimonial room on their webpage and tripadvisor before checking in and so knew what to expect. but the room we got was much different, it was a small dark room with green walls. We thought maybe we got the cheaper "Simple Room" instead, but the receptionist assured us that this was not the case. They have older and newer 'matrimonial rooms' that are priced the same. The price really should reflect this difference. Just be aware of this so you are not in for a surprise at check-in. Despite this, the room we got though not as asthetically pleasing as we expected was clean and liveable.
- no view in room, looks out to an enclosed concrete/bricks area

Room Tip: email them a week before you arrive to remind them to pick you up at the bus terminal

“Affordable AND nice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

Hotel Intiqa is perfect for the smart family that doesn't want to spend a ton to get *great* accommodations. The beds have sheets that you might find in a 5-star hotel and keep you warm at night if you travel in the winter. The showers have hot water. The location is ideal. If you're stopping in Puno to travel to the islands, this is the perfect overnight.

“Great food, clean rooms, average service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Our stay was comfortable and included a wonderful meal--and great service--at the restaurant. The rooms were clean, although the beds were average to poor. The worst part was checkout, with some serious mixups and poor service from the staff. Although at $56/night it wasn't a big deal.

“Great hotel beyond expectation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

First off the price of the hotel was very affordable perhaps it's not peak season? So, I was wondering how could the price be so low in according to the pictures? Anyways, the pictures on the site or here are not glorified. The rooms are really nice and comfy. We rushed to Puno for one night but maybe could have stayed longer. As our bus arrived late, as soon as the hotel picked us and they also helped us to get the floating island tour immediately at a reasonable price. The hotel restaurant has good food for dinner and breakfast. Many staff spoke good English and very helpful. Will definitely recommend and go back.

“A wonderful stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We stayed only one night, and wish we had more. Lucy Sugeremente, the reservation coordinator, was extremely helpful and responsive to my emails. The bus we planned to take was cancelled, and we got a taxi to Desaguardo, and she sent a driver to pick us up there - well worth the additional charge ! They also made a reservation for a boat trip to the floating islands and a driver to the airport at Juliaca for us. The staff were welcoming and helpful for everything we did, and the room couldn't have been more comfortable and pleasant. The decor is new, clean and bright, and the breakfast was also excellent. Should be a top recommendation for Puno!

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room, and got one at the back.
