“A little paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

We found this place by chance, and felt so lucky. It is a little paradise. We were welcome with a delicious mango cocktail! The garden is ZENNNN. The rooms were super clean and decorated with a lot of taste (minimalist). The breakfast, generous and delightful.
The beach does not compare with the San Blas but it is ok. Perfect choice for a couple who want to escape for a few days.

“A Great Escape”

Togo is simply incredible. A rare example of thoughtful design beautifully executed and diligently maintained. Togo lives up to all the reviews. We spent three nights in the second floor La Palma room, 11-13 December 2011. Everything about this place works. Gordon was the consummate host: engaging and available yet never intrusive. If cleanliness matters then you will love Togo. A small staff works seven days a week maintaining the owners' high standards.

It's easy to spend days relaxing in hammocks in the lush gardens, reading in the open air living area and walking the Farallón beach. The whole environment feels safe and comfortable. You can attach your laptop/tablet/smartphone to the on-site wireless network to stay abreast of the world. Or leave your electronics off and quickly forget the day and date. A local massage therapist will come to Togo upon request. She is professionally trained and does a great job for reasonable rates.

We ate at the Xocho, El Galeon and Los Camisones restaurants shown on the Togo map. Food and service were excellent at all three. The paella at Los Camisones is outstanding. Ask Gordon or Antonio call in your order ahead of time as it takes about an hour to prepare.

If you drive to Togo from Panamá City, you will find Super 99 and El Rey grocery stores in Coronado about 72 km west of the Puente de las Americas. The Decamaron Road turn-off for Togo will be on your left about 37 km further west (Farallón del Chirú, Panamá on Google maps.)

Room Tip: All the rooms are spacious, clean and well decorated. La Palma has a small kitchen if you want to p...

“Enchanting paradise, wonderful hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

Togo B&B is a little jewel! The lush gardens are beautiful, and it's a short walk to the beautiful beach. There are so many delightful decorating touches throughout the place, and we especially liked the open air living and dining area, which made it easy to chat with our hosts and fellow guests. Gordon and Antonio are the perfect hosts--welcoming, helpful, warm and interesting. Excellent breakfast too. We wish we had stayed longer, and we hope to return.

“EDEN?”

This is a Tropical Forest one block from the beach. Tonio is a perfect host. We didn't get a chance to meet Gordon - maybe next time. Breakfast is fresh (picked on the grounds) fruit and omelets or anything else you could want with super nice guests to chat with. The staff is great and accommodating - constantly smiling. This could be what the Garden of Eden looked like (if there were hammocks back then).

“The high point of a great 2 week trip to Panama”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 June 2011

Our two night stay at Togo B&B was toward the end of our two week honeymoon in Panama, and one might think we were a little tired of being tourists and living out of backpacks... maybe before we arrived, we were a bit. But upon setting foot on the Togo property, we felt immediately both relaxed and spoiled, and not a little out of our league, just for being there. The back garden is totally amazing, thought out to the most minute detail, and is really a hidden paradise. At night, the sound of ripe mangos dropping from the trees, cicadas, and toads trying to mate is pretty much the norm. And the room we stayed in (ground floor of the main house) was also awesome - I took pictures of all the decor details thinking maybe someday I would be able to replicate (not likely but here's to aspirational goals). The beach, while not private (none in Panama are private) was 2 minutes away, clean and beautiful, and both days we went, we were the only ones camped there. But what really made this stop our favorite, aside from the luxury comforts and sense of peace, were Antonio, his pets, and his staff. You can't bottle or replicate this quality - it's all about personality and charm, and Antonio has it to spare. In our two nights at Togo (and as the only guests), we had the chance to sit and talk with him several times about art, his home, and Panama, as easily as with an old friend. He is a great storyteller and a very generous and welcoming host. We also felt completely pampered by Dorales and Lucidio, from the welcome cocktail and the AMAZING breakfasts and lunch Dorales prepared for us, to Lucidio's assistance in doing anything we needed before we thought to ask, and his gardening talents. Honestly, I wish I had the time and money to book a week, a month, at Togo every summer. Maybe someday I will. Antonio, thank you! Look us up if you ever come back to NYC! S&J
