We have visited this resort twice, once before the refurb and the second after. And what a place!! If you want to treat yourself to the ultimate relaxation holiday then this is your place. Your first impression on circling Male is one of breathtaking beauty. Surely it cannot get better. But it does.

Everyone has their favourite island and ours is Baros. It helps if you dive. Diving with Manta's is a lifechanging experience. That said, you can get a wonderful experience by snorkeling. Just float round the island. You can walk around the island in 12 minutes.

The food is excellent (check out the flambe) and all of the accomodation is 5 star quality. The staff are excellent and friendly and a credit to the resort.

No complaints about the resort at all. Certainly one of our top 3 resorts in the world.

As soon as we visited Baros last May we knew we wanted to return. On our second visit to the island in May this year we were so glad we did. We had a fantastic time at Baros again. From the moment we were greeted by the wonderful Shuhan and Andrea as we got off the boat, it felt like coming home.

We were welcomed back by everyone at reception like old friends. Our Deluxe villa was ready even though we arrived at 9:30am. We had a bottle of champagne chilling in the room which was a lovely touch thank you! It was a truly wonderful welcome after travelling for 17+ hours to get there.

We felt relaxed as soon as we arrived. We really felt spoilt.The room was cleaned so well each day by Majeed, we had fresh fruit replenished every day. Every morning we went to the gym we were greeted with a friendly smile and a "good morning" by the gardener Jose.

There were so many staff that made our stay magical and so we would like to thank them:
Dadoon for your wonderful Madivian omelettes and scrambled eggs every morning
Lillin and Shahla for their warm welcome at breakfast every morning
Ibrahim, always lovely to have a chat with when we were dining at the Lime (Asian night in the Lime is a great night too)
Ibrahim and everyone at the Sails Bar, those cold towels and a nice cool drink were very welcome at lunch times when we escaped the sun for a while
I have to say a very special thank you to Ali at the Lighthouse, one of the nicest, most lovely waiters and humoured Russ by laughing at his jokes!!
Haneef, our waiter at the Cayenne, at the Maldivian night at the Cayenne. The Maldivians pride in their food and culture is fantastic to see and a really great way to try all the lovely delicacies.
Rafaal was really helpful on our airport pick up and drop off.
In fact everyone on the resort are welcoming, friendly, helpful and really help to make this a wonderful holiday so sorry to anyone we forgot to mention!

The food was yet again, out of this world. Every meal was great but the 2 meals we had at the Lighthouse were wonderful.

We had the Balinese couples massage at the spa and I had a facial. Both treatments were fabulous. The spa is not to be missed.

We also went on the twilight fishing trip which was great, Russ caught a few fish that we had cooked that night in the Cayenne. The chef at the Cayenne was also brilliant, his enthusiasm for cooking is very evident and he came out to chat to us and gave us a few recipe tips.

The weather was perfect and after a week of being at home, we're already dreaming of returning next year. If you're deciding on which island to go to in the Maldives, it's a no brainer- Just go to Baros!!!

Somewhat late in posting this review, 2 years late to be exact, (May 2010) but would like to say that having visited various islands in the Maldives, Baros always remains the one to beat in our opinion. No negatives at all....well just one perhaps. We have over the previous two years been unable to get in, in the accomodation we wanted, due to having to book a couple of months prior to travel. We will get back there one day!!

We celebrated both our birthdays while we were there and were each given complimentary champagne breakfasts on the WV deck. The lighthouse restaurant, delicious. Lighthouse bar, an amazing place pre dinner (and after dinner) to sip away at a cocktail or two whilst watching the sun go down. You even receive the most delicious complimentary canapes to enjoy too. We found the cost of food and beverage to be quite reasonable in comparision to other islands.
This island has a unique charm and ambiance all of its own that we have not experienced elsewhere in the Maldives.
Love it!! but dont go, because we may not be able to get in!!

We stayed for 9 nights in May 2012. 6 nights in water villa and 3 in pool villa. I know everyone goes on and on about this place but it really is that good. Service was exceptional, polite and personal, everyone seems to know your name. Food was very good at all restaurants, however we soon realised that room service lunch on your own deck was the way to go. Best banana milkshakes ever.

Water villa was fantastic, although there was little shade on the deck until the late afternoon. Pool villa was magnificent. We never knew where to park ourselves, on our beach chairs, on the deck on the loungers, on the sun bed, or on the bean bags? Or in the pool? If (when) we go back we will stay in Baros villa or pool villa for sure.

If you want romance, go for the sandbank dinner. I surprised my wife and the staff were very adept at keeping the secret.

The real clincher, though, was meeting a couple who have been back 17 times......
