A 2hr drive from Kota Kinabalu (arranged by the resort) we stayed here for 3 nights after a week of adventure in Sandakan. The perfect place for a bit of r&r. The rooms themselves are spread out over 3/4 buildings so you almost get a chalet-feeling. Inside, they are comfy and clean whilst stopping short of luxurious (the bathroom has an open shower right next to the toilet - a bit weird?!). There's no air-con but a decent fan and the coastal breeze keep you from melting at night. The main building is stunning - fully covered dining area, pool table (charged per game - a bit tight, that), library and plasma TV room (presumably for the rainy days). The food was superb - each meal something different and delicious (although the cuts of meat are cheap so expect lots of bones). Down by the beach there are some lovely wooden tables carved from tree trunks and two huts to relax in and watch the sea lapping into the beach. Staff are all very friendly too.
We were hard-pressed to find any negatives but if you want to knit-pick I would like to have seen more information on possible day-trips or activities. Tiga Island (of Survivor fame) is a short boat journey away but the resort doesn't properly cater for trips there - they made it sound like a massive hassle (and at quite a price) so we gave that a miss, disappointingly. That said, we were more than happy to mooch for 3 days and stroll down the beech for kilometers in either direction with nothing but crabs and water buffalo for company!
It really is the perfect couple's resort for romance and relaxation.
