“Beautiful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2010

Service of the staff, were professional and friendly. Giving you a very welcoming feeling.
The room was superb and we had an excellent view from the room over looking the harbour and ocean.
The atmosphere and landscaping was beautiful, nice place to be to unwind and relax and be pampered.
We took an Island Package promotion, which included a 2 night stay in Manukan Island.

“Magellan Sutera Hotel & Spa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2010

The resort is very close to International Airport, only 5 mins by transporation you can arrive there, so that you do not need to worry about missing your return flight unless you oversleep. It is also located in convenient area, city centre can be accessed within 5 mins as well by taxi. You can book in Resort's Concierge and ask for the fixed price, it's around RM $10 - $12.

We took food and drinks in different restaurants - Italian, Aussie Grill, seafood, Local food. Prices are really reasonable and not expensive. If you like shopping, KK is not really shopping paradise since most of famous branded products cannot be found there.

What you need to prepare in advance is a map and you can circle out the places you like to visit, so that you will not waste your valuable time.

The resort is full of sport facilites - Golf, tennis, swimming pool, yacht club.. etc. You can visit the website for your reference:
http://www.magellansutera-kotakinabalu.com/accommodations.php

Spa is also not expensive and you must try for at least once. All employees are with certificates and trained by Balinese, they will offer you professional advices if you have queries on muscluar problem. I was lucky that 40% early bird discount was offered. I could enjoy it around RM$150 (tax inclusive).

My advice is ready for your own holidays, book flight ticket and resort. You must go there at least once.

“Scenic”

We had a deluxe sea view room overlooking the sea.
Hotel was a bit old...and need some maintenance.
But overall very friendly staff, great service!

The man-made beach is a tad too small, but the water was really clear.
I could see the fishes swimming around.
Remember to catch sun set while staying her...the view was fantastic!

“Disappointing and overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 May 2010

We came to The Magellan after 6 nights at Le Meridien, the lobby and views were beautiful as was the pool and grounds. Room was a bit disappointing / small TV very low beds and for what we paid we were very disappointed. Food was an absolute rip off and we went to lunch at Al Frescos and it took ages for the food to come and wasn't worth what we paid for it. Beach was very dirty and I for one wouldn't swim. Gym was amazing though. All in all very disappointing. We went back to The Meridien following night.

“Not visit to this Hotel again!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 May 2010

1.Location - Good! it is near to airport(only take 10 to 15 minutes from Hotel to airport)
- Bravo! It provide free shuttle bus to city frequently/almost per hour (it is convenient for customer to shopping in City)
2.Cleanliness - Terrible! We found that there is stains(fist size) on the bed lien. Also there is lipstick stains left in the cup when we have breakfast. It can't accepted in 5 star resort hotel!
3.Service - Not flexible! When we go to Five Sail Restaurant for breakfast, we want to sit near the swimming pool and there is plenty of table(for 4 person) available. However, the waitress just told me that since you are 2 pax and only can sit on the table for 2 person. Ridiculous! At that time there are many tables available and not much customer are waiting, are they really service-oriented? are they really understand customer need and thinking? The answer is No!
- The worse thing happened on 8th May Morning around 5am, suddenly the room power supply is out and I call the housecare and the reply is that the electricity of whole city is gone! From 5am to 10am we make 3 call to ask technician to fix the problem! Please imagine that there is no possible happen in 5 star hotel, however It Just Happen in such Hotel!
