The owner picked us up at the Kota Kinabalu airport, and took us on a quick little tour of the city before dropping us off at the hostel. Really interesting guy, great English, extremely nice. The hostel is tucked into a little side street not far from the main drag, so its within walking distance of the bars/attractions but secluded enough for a good night's sleep. The place is extremely clean and comfortable - not a speck of dust anywhere, and a nice common area for reading/hanging out/etc. The beds were fantastic - a lot better than my bed at home - and they were really flexible about changing rooms. We were supposed to move from a private room to a dorm on the second night, but when the couple didn't show up, we were allowed to stay in the private room (while still paying dorm room prices). The complimentary breakfast is basic but ample, and really appreciated for those of us on a tight budget. The staff also bring little jars of snacks and baked goods to leave on the table from time to time, and these are delicious. We could not have been happier with our experience at Masada and we'd highly recommend the place to anyone.
