I chose this residence fully depending on the previous reviews and I must write one to further support this lovely little gem near Mt. Kinabula.

I rent a car to drive to Mt. Kinabula. The residence is easy to find on the main road near the entrance of the park, with a relatively big sign. The rooms are nicely decorated, simple yet clean and decent. I love the balcony outside the room, stunning views with the freshest air. Choose 5b or 3b for the best view and biggest rooms.

Be sure you look up to the sky at night, it's so romantic and unforgettable. Unforunately, there is no restaurant at the residence, so better bring your own food for BBQ or enjoy a light meal at the restaurant nearby, 5 min. walk.

The only unpleasant part of the residence is the very limited hot water. I think it's too cold at night and it only takes me 3 minutes for the shower.

Found out about the place from trip advisor. Had holiday in Dec when mostly raining but really enjoyed the view and cool weather. The water in the toilet so cold although with water heater but really refreshing. Enjoyed the room, simple and modern and most importantly clean. The staff are nice and polite. One of a few place offers family house with bbq facility. Really enjoyed bbq during the cold night. Really close to kinabalu park, so in the morning got to see the Kinabalu peak before clouds closed it. One setback is the road into the resort. very steep and slippery but for short distance.

I went to J Residence to stay with my family during convocation of UMS. I would like to commend all the staffs of J Residence for their kind hospitality. The view during the morning is just too great to miss.

I would have recommended anyone who will be making a trip to Kundasang, Sabah soon, to take a chance for a relaxing trip by choosing J Residence to stay.

We decided to stay at J Residence after reading excellent reviews on TripAdvisor. My family and I had a super comfortable stay there. J Residence is not just some cheap establishment. In fact, for a very affordable price, guests get a very clean and comfortable place to stay and to enjoy an amazing view. The bed linens and comforters are very clean. And the floor to ceiling windows in the bedroom and bathroom afforded an amazing view of the valley. The grounds were also clean of garbage.

Joshua, the owner, was super helpful and accommodating of his guests' needs. He was quick in replying emails. The staff were helpful and friendly. We arrived way early than the check-in time but were allowed to leave our bags in the room while it was being readied.

J Residence is located down a steep slope. So, a word of caution to guests of small cars to not drive up the slope with a cold engine. During our stay, a guest attempted to drive a Kancil (860 cc) with a cold engine. He only succeeded on the sixth attempt after the car stalled half way up the slope. It was quite scary for us what more for the driver.

All in all, to those looking for affordable, clean and an amazing view, J Residence is an absolute deal.
