I stayed here on two separate occasions within in the same week. My room was relatively cheap, they gave me a discount when I told them I was going to stay for a week. I had to break my trip up between climbing Mt. Kinabalu. The bedding didn't seem to be clean when I checked in both times, there was still hair on it. When I told them they changed it with no problem. Otherwise the room seemed to be clean, clean enough at least for a guesthouse. Rooms have A/C and some sort of vanity or counter to put your things... I had no issues with bed bugs as some other posts say and I stayed in two different rooms. Obviously I can't speak for the entire place but it didn't appear anyone else was having problems and it was very busy while I was there.
Shared bathrooms in the hallway were clean and showers equipped with hot water.
Common area had a few computers and there is free wi-fi throughout the whole place which is nice. I felt that with a little bit of help, upgrading some of the furniture and ambiance etc the place could have been really cool. It just seemed to be neglected and the staff sat around watching TV all day and night. The girls working there were helpful if you needed info but still they all seemed a bit bored and burnt out.
Overall I had a good stay and I liked the fact that you have to walk up a few flights of stairs to get to your room, no elevator, just exercise.
The location is great all though it can be loud on the weekends with the bar and annoying karaoke like singing below. It's funny the first night but if you're there longer you'll realize they sing the same songs every night and they are horrible.
