Booking: It was as easy as 1...2...3...online. You can opt to book through phone directly to the PIBR.
Ferry: Get on the ferry at the Lumut Ferry Terminal. All you have to do is to just wait in front of PIBR ticket counter and the friendly staff will assist you with your ferry tickets and even carry all your luggage. Try to board the ferry early so that you can get on the top deck seat to avoid sitting with too many people on the lower deck. The only set back was that some people will keep walking by the isle to get to the door opening to the open air deck at the back of the ferry. It is a smooth 45 minutes ferry ride which won't require you to take any of the sea sick medication. Once you reach the PIBR Jetty, a shuttle bus will be waiting for you to bring you to the hotel lobby in less than 5 minutes.
Check In: Checking in was fast for us...in the sense that we squeezed through people who were keen to get their free welcome drinks at the lobby entrance. While they were still busy drinking the free drinks, we were checked in and directed towards our room.
Room: Thank you, PIBR, for giving us the opportunity to stay at one of your four Sea Villas. As a nature lovers, we've enjoyed the rustic sea front spacious villa, which we called our home for those 4 days. We have got the option to shower in the bath tub but instead we enjoyed the shower in the open top room at the back of the villa and turned our bath tub to be the area where we hang our wet clothes.
Service: The staff are friendly and helpful. There was just one incident where no staff could do to help us. The villas area is a private area. It is opened only for the residents and no children is allowed in the area to preserve the privacy and serenity.
Spa: NOT TO BE MISSED! We ended up going for the Deep Blue Sea Massage twice! Thank you to Aina and Hamdan (aka Lola), who delivered the consistently great massages during out two massages each, two days in a row! Yes, make sure you book them up earlier since the spa is always full. I don't blame them if they have to turn your massage request down due to their packed schedule but the massage is really, really good.
Surrounding: It is very private at the villa area. It is a good place for anybody who are looking for a place to retreat, without the screaming kids and the loud adults. However, during our third day, on our way to the Hornbill Restaurant for a breakfast buffet, a peacock seemed to want to escape from the screaming kids and the careless adults/parents by coming to the villa garden. We bumped into some families who purposely disobeyed the "Private Area - For Villa Residents Only" sign. They ruthlessly opened up the villa's gate and started to flock in the villa garden, raping the villa residents' and also the peacock's privacy and serenity. I found a staff at the gate, helpless of stopping the bunch. I even talked to the staff at the Hornbill Restaurant, who appeared to offer no help to stop the 'stampede'.
Food/Restaurant: We seemed to enjoyed the variety of buffet for breakfast and dinner at the Hornbill Restaurant. We had great variety to choose from for those four days that we didn't even try the other food at another restaurant. The hotel should invest a little in getting those RESERVED tags to prevent the staff from getting the unnecessary scoldings from the lesser-educated guests who could not figure out that a crossed fork and spoon on the table setting indicates that the table is reserved for someone. And...we have seen a lot of food robbers from the buffet tables. We have once queued up for some breakfast pancakes but the girl in front of us seemed has been told to scoop up all the pancakes from the serving tray into her parents bags. The guests must have just enough money to pay for the hotel room but are too incapable to buy lunches!
Activities: Most activities requires a minimum of four persons. So for couples like us, we were left with spa endeavor, cycling, jet ski and night fun fishing. For any born-to-cast-live-to-fish people, the 90 minutes Night Fun Fishing by the beach may not be really fun.
All in all we enjoyed our 4D3N retreat in PIBR. We originally have booked a 3D2N package but ended up extending our stay for another day. We might be back, hoping the hotel can impose a much better crowd control...from the privacy rapers and the food thieves. :D
