I went to Summerset Colonial Hotel and Villas from 1st to 3 rd June. The journey was sooo long because we got lost on the way there. It took 6 1/2 hours from KL because there was an inadequacy of signboards and the website map was not detailed enough. However, the hotel is quite good, clean and comfortable. The pool has a good landscaping and design but I give it the thumbs down for safety and cleanliness. No life guard even though they have a diving pool 3.6m deep which was just cordoned off with red/white tape. A fence would be more appropriate. There was also no requirement for swimwear at the pool, so people were going in in their clothes and tudung. I understand the need for Muslims' modesty but surely they can afford the type of swimwear now available widely which covers the whole body and swim caps.
There is just one restaurant at the hotel, so like it or not u have to eat there. The variety is not much but what they serve, they cook it quite well.

The hotel room is quite comfortable but I wish they would provide balcony chairs so that we can enjoy the view outside.

The hotel is surrounded by natural peat swamps and there are a number of easy walks on paved trails for yound kids. I even pushed my stroller around on the trail.
