The location is splendid overlooking the straits of johor and very near to the causeway for those who plan to have a day trip to singapore. Nearby to all the major shopping centres.if you are looking for a more authentic local delicacy(cheaper), there are a few eateries that start after 7 daily next to the soccer field....but the staff at the confectionary shld learn hw to smile when serving....

While on business a large group of us stayed at the Thistle Hotel. Depending on the travel schedule we had as few as 3 and as many as 13 staying at the hotel staying between 60 and 120 days. We were greeted by friendly and professional staff. The rooms were clean and tidy. The beds were comfortable and gave us all a good nights rest. Maid service was excellant and the front desk attended to any special needs we had. We selected the executive stay so had use of the lounge making use of it for morning breakfast and evening snack with drinks. The lounge staff was great. Soon everyone from the wonderful gentlemen greeting us outside each day to the maid service knew us by name and greeted us as friends. We also took advantage of the on-site dining facilities and had great meals every time. I rated it just below excellent for the location. It was not that the location was bad but we selected a hotel that was not the closest to our place of business. Overall, it was a great stay and all agreed we'd stay again.

The hotel is good, but perhaps it should be better. Room was nice and large and fresh to arrive in. But (perhaps because it was a "corner room") the air conditioning could not keep it cool enough. The curtains did not close properly either.

The furnishing were getting old, the bathroom was fresh but really needed a renovation rather than just a fresh coat of paint.

The breakfast should have been great - the quality of the food was fine but the layout of the breakfast room as bizarre like a school canteen rather than an expensive hotel.

In summary - a pleasant hotel -a little expensive for what is offers but it really should be a little better.......

The room was big but the air con was very weak. It was a warm night for us !

I think Thistle is the only 5* hotel in Jb.. But, the breakfast was totally 1*. Nasi lemak with no sambal. Cold porridge. Very little variety. Best of all, soot in my eggs.

I was contemplating if i wish to make a complain. But decide to let the matter rest as i will not be returning. However, i received a email from them a few days later. That was when i gave my feedback since it was a feedback form.

I thought nothing would be done but to my surprise, the manager called my mobile a day after i submit the feedback form. He apologized and told me that he have check with the kitchen/restaurant pertaining to my complains. He even invited me for a dinner with my family at Thistle.

I thanked him but rejected his kind offer.... Why would i go across the causeway just for a dinner ? Anyway, because of his gesture, i will still recommend friends to Thistle BUT DO NOT PAY FOR THE BREAKFAST.
